Studio Flux is a vibrant, circus arts space located in Toronto’s east side. We are home to 4 separate circus arts companies: The Circus Fix, Toronto Circus Collective (under the umbrella of Hercinia Arts Collective), CirQular Motion and Fit2Fly Apparel. While we are proud to be a part of this community of organizations, the truth is that we also need each other to survive. Collectively our operating costs are over $10,000 for the highly particular space that we share. As a circus arts hub we offer classes, workshops and rehearsal space for professional, pre-professional and recreational circus artists. Circus Arts is a beautiful, complex practice that is fitness and art all at once. We work in close contact with one another; we touch, breathe and move together, we share space and equipment, we build trust and deep relationships with each other and ourselves. We are a community space. Needless to say we have been closed since March 16th; our operations effectively reduced to zero since that date. With our activities most resembling fitness facilities, we will be one of the last places able to reopen and we have no idea when that will be. What’s more, with our activities requiring close contact and shared equipment, we are unlikely to be able to operate at anything near normal for the foreseeable future. We need help. Please write to your MPP and ask them to: *Put a moratorium on commercial rent evictions during the pandemic *Mandate all landlords enrol in CERCA *Allow tenants a free early termination of commercial lease contracts during the pandemic https://ola.org.en/member to find your local MPP Amplify our voices by sharing our story
