Each week we are giving a complimentary pair of Foamtreads slippers to one winner. To qualify we ask for followers to nominate an elderly relative or loved one, in isolation or in need of a kind gesture. This week we wanted to share this special nomination with you as it touched all of our hearts and truly shows the value of seniors. Here is Wendee’s story; I wanted to nominate my Father a senior in his late 80’s going through a cancer diagnosis and extreme physical pain due... to injuries during his military career. (Just had his birthday through this pandemic, without all his family). He served in the Canadian Military with the Airforce and retired after over 35 years of service. Then going on to study and became a Pentecostal Reverend and retired at 80 years old. (Although is still doing small weddings and preaching on occasion). He is very positive throughout this entire pandemic; offering prayers and comfort through phone calls and even support to different Pastors who are helping their congregations during this difficult time. He also has learned to text, email, FaceTime and keep in touch with all of us using an iPad so that he can provide support to friends, family and others. He is a strength, even now as his own body breaks down and is stronger than ever to keep connected and know the facts about this virus to keep us all informed with accurate details. He donates to charities, churches, family as much as he can afford and he says constantly STAY HOME wash your hands and be safe! His giving and support never stops, he always has been the strength of our family and his community. I believe my Father; Herb Townsend is a true inspiration that seniors are a value to families, communities and some can give back much more than we realize! We hope this story touched your heart and we’re very thankful to your ‘Feel good Heart Warming Stories’ segment during these tough times. See more
