We love that this man is protecting his dogs eyes! A man and his goggle-wearing best friend have been turning heads in Regina. Dennis Flamont, a 66-year-old widower, originally got Putz as a puppy for his ill wife four years ago to help provide her comfort. He said the pandemic hit Saskatchewan shortly after his wife died. "Now it's just me and him," said Flamont.... "With the quarantine and everything, we've been together 24/7. Now, when he doesn't know where I am he goes through anxieties. So that's why I take him with me," he said. Flamont works as a part-time courier. Putz comes with him all the time. "Of course, him being the dog that he is, he has to have his head out the windows," he said. Flamont bought goggles to protect Putzs eyes when he looked out the window. The safety-first attitude had a side effect: Flamont noticed people laughing, smiling and taking photos when they saw Putz. Some of them even said the sight had made their day. Flamont decided to make it a daily thing for him and Putz. Flamont said he hopes he and Putz are doing something thatll make the world a brighter place for his four granddaughters. "We are creating a world right now as if there was an apocalypse. People are scared to touch. People are scared to talk to each other," he said. "If all it takes is for me and Putz to put a smile on people's faces and to make them reconnect, it makes for a better world and future for us." If youre a welder, hairdresser, lighting technician, paint and resin worker, or work outdoors, be sure youre in the know about potential risks and how to avoid UV ex...posure. Protect your peepers. Wear sunglasses that are 100% UV blocking against both UVA and UVB rays, and are close-fitting with a wrap-around style frame to help keep light out. If you wear corrective contact lenses, consider wearing UV-blocking contact lenses for an added layer of UV protection. In addition to cataracts, these steps help protect against: Age Related Macular Degeneration Eyelid skin cancer Corneal sunburn Age spots Tissue growths on the surface of the eye Stay informed. Get regular eye exams to monitor eye health, maintain good vision and keep up-to-date on the latest in UV protection. 10-4. Keep out of direct sunlight between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., when the suns rays are strongest. Children are at high risk. Its estimated that 50% of lifetime exposure to UV happens before the age of 18. In response to the current public health recommendations made by Manitoba Health to practice social distancing to minimize contact in public in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, Focal Point will be accessible for EMERGENCY EYE CARE ONLY 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday as of 12:00pm Saturday, March 21st, 2020. Carman Vision Services will be closed as of Friday March 20, 2020 at 4:30 until further notice. Our planned re-opening date for both locations is Monday, April 1...3, 2020 but is subject to change as we monitor the ongoing situation.
