Today was science experiment day! We tried launching a balloon across the room on a string using a few different techniques. Attempt #3 worked! We had SO much fun with this experiment! The videos will be posted separately!
Tis the season of giving, especially this year more than ever! As we mentioned at the beginning of the month, we were accepting donations again this year for our local food bank. We just wanted to say thank you again for everyone who contributed. This year we also received very generous monetary donations which blew us away! Thank you so much again, big or small every single donation helped a family in need this Holiday Season!
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm...as you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others. Mural done by the FOA participants!
We hope everyone had a very Merry, wonderful, safe Christmas with their closest loved ones! Here is a throw back to our letters to Santa. Our group had so much fun writing to Santa and loved receiving a letter back!
Merry Christmas from all of us at FOA! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy Christmas filled with so much joy and love!
We started prepping our salt dough ornaments today, and will be painting them throughout the week! (stay tuned for photos once they are all decorated!). We also received the most beautiful, handmade gifts from one of our participants. Nothing beats a homemade present, and we couldn’t be any more grateful for his thoughtfulness. Thanks for the beautiful Christmas signs Jordan!
Happy Birthday goes out to our girl Rosie! We had a blast celebrating and making some yummy cupcakes!
There’s only 3 days till Christmas! Today we celebrated by hosting our Christmas party! We had a delicious spaghetti and meatball lunch with Caesar salad and garlic bread. We also had our annual gift exchange and even had some of our friends participate via zoom! Santa spoiled our group and we had such a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with our friends, even if it looked a little bit different this year!
Here are some of the final products of our salt dough ornaments; they turned out amazing and the group had SO much fun making them and decorating them! We also made some adorable, glowing snowman ornaments! We also had a Sports themed day at the program, paired with a classic ballpark lunch of hot dogs and fries (or chilli cheese dogs!).
Today is one special day that really resonates with us; International Day of Persons with Disabilities! Today is the day where we take time to celebrate those living with a disability and everything that has been accomplished to make this a more accessible world for them, as well as take the necessary steps to move towards a more inclusive world. This years theme is Not all Disabilities are Visible, which is definitely an area that requires some more attention. Did you know... that for every 1 person with a visible disability there are 4 people living with an invisible one? A disability can range from developmental to physical, mental, cognitive or emotional. Hearing impairments, learning disabilities, chronic pain or PTSD are only some examples of what so many people are living with on a daily basis. Many of these disabilities have only been amplified due to Covid-19. Moving forward we hope more light can be shed on these invisible disabilities and more awareness and supports can be developed to assist those living with an invisible condition. See more

Once again we are collecting nonperishable food items to donate to our local food bank. This year more than ever, so many families have been hit hard by the recent pandemic and are relying on our local food banks to help make ends meet. We so much appreciate all of our families for their donations, big and small, to help support those in need in our community. We will continue collecting cans next week and will be making our delivery on Friday; every can counts! Thank you everyone for your support!
We hope everyone today, like us, took time to stop and reflect on the importance of Remembrance Day and those who fought and lost their lives for our freedom

Our grocery shopping doesn’t look the same as it use to, but it’s 2020 and we’re embracing the times! We are still meal planning, browsing flyers and making our grocery lists like before; just all virtual! It’s safe and we still get to practice our life skills!
Happy French Toast Day! We’re celebrating a few days early but really, who even needs an excuse to eat French Toast?
We had fun doing some Halloween prep today! We carved pumpkins and starting making Halloween cookies!
