bzzt!Good vibes coming your way via Shockwave Therapy! This machine sends pulses of high energy sound waves to provoke an inflammation response from the treatment site-- think of it like giving the body's healing mechanisms a jump-startIt's often used to treat stubborn injuries such as: chronic tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff disorders, and trigger points. How's it different from ultrasound? Ultrasound uses continuous low-energy sound waves to stimulate circulation at the treatment site. This helps flush away any inflammation and cell waste products while bringing in the nutrient-rich Good Stuff to help with healing

Something new this way comes! We have a pelvic floor physio joining Team Focus soon . What the heck is pelvic floor physio even for though? Well actually, folks come to see one for all sorts of reasons: internal pelvic pain, unresolved low back pain, pre/postnatal care, post-op care for pelvic or abdominal surgery, you name it! People are shy about discussing below-the-belt issues but we want to break down this barrier. This is not a problem exclusive to female bodies, nor an uncommon one either. More info in our blog (link in bio) for those who are interested, and we will introduce our resident pelvic floor physio very soon

Foam rolling / self muscle release To roll or not to roll? Meet Justin Carpenter! He is one of the three kinesiologists at Focus Physio + Wellness. Why did you get into Kinesiology? Kinesiology is something that I was drawn to through sport and fitness. What do you do to stay active and fit? Staying active is a big part of my families life. We go one walks and hikes frequently, my wife and I make an effort to get to the gym three days a week, and I play on a few recreational teams for enjoyment. What is one thing people don’t know about you? Most people don't know that I have had quite a wide range of job experiences, 23 to be exact. For example I made and packaged Fresh is Best chips, separated Diary Land milk shipments, and I was a snowmobile tour guide once. Book online Link in profile

Meet Aaron Vani! He is one of the physiotherapists and also an owner at Focus Physio + Wellness. Why did you get into physiotherapy? I have always been active in sport and athletics and have had my share of injuries (tears, breaks, surgeries, etc). During my undergrad I went through a few knee surgeries and subsequently a LOT of rehab. That crash course in physiotherapy has helped guide me to where I am today.... What do you love about working at Focus? I love everything about it! The physical clinic, the neighbourhood, our patients and last but not least, our team. All those things make coming into work a joy. It may sound cliche, but it's true! What do you do to stay active and keep fit? I am motivated by the saying "practice what you preach". I try and get into the gym a couple times a week and then try and be active outside running, hiking or playing with my two sons (that might be the mostchallenging one!). What is one thing people don’t know about you? That I've lived in thirty one different houses/apartments in my life. Twenty three growing up with my family, five in university, and three with my wife. That's a lot of packing and unpacking! Book online Link in profile

Meet Kelly Wanless! She is one of three kinesiologists at Focus Physio + Wellness. Why did you get into Kinesiology? I was drawn to kinesiology when I discovered the impact that movement and exercise has on our overall health. This is an area that has always been important to me and coupled with my fascination of human anatomy and physiology, it was a perfect fit! Kinesiology is a tool that allows an individual to take charge of your health and gives each person power and co...ntrol over their well-being and I love being apart of that for my clients. It is not just rehabilitative, but preventative and is not limited to physical health, but mental and emotional health as well. What do you love about working at Focus? I love the team dynamic at Focus. I feel so lucky to work with a group of incredibly smart, passionate, creative and supportive individuals. Our team embodies collaborative care and I enjoy brainstorming with different practitioners on the best ways to support our clients. We’re also very funny and tell good jokes. What do you do to stay active and keep fit? My primary form of exercise is strength training. I also walk a lot and I pretend to like running about 3 times a year. The best part about living in the city is the forced exercise that comes from the convenience of walking most places! What is one thing people don’t know about you? I love watching golf on TV and my dream is to go to the Masters one day - as a spectator. Book online Link in profile
