Fogo Island United Church Up-date. As you are all aware we have now moved into Alert Level 2 - Church’s are now permitted to reopen. There will not be a service Sunday, March 28th, 2021 due to the passing of Rev. Ginn’s brother in-law (Florence’s brother) so please keep Florence and Rev. Ginn in your prayers. Church will resume with the following schedule for Good Friday and Easter Sunday:... Good Friday - April 2, 2021 service will be at 11 AM Easter Sunday - April 4, 2021 service will be at 11 AM We have to remember that Covid-19 protocols are still in place. 1. MUST WEAR A MASK WHEN ENTERING THE CHURCH BUILDING AND THE MASK HAS TO REMAIN ON FOR THE DURATION OF THE SERVICE. 2. USE THE HAND SANITIZER WHICH IS PLACED ON THE TABLE IN THE PORCH 3. FOLLOW THE ARROWS FOR ENTERING AND EXITING THE SANCTUARY 4. WHEN TAKING A SEAT PLEASE REMAIN 6 FEET APART UNLESS YOU ARE ATTENDING WITH SOMEONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD BUBBLE. Friendly Reminder To those who ordered Church Calendars and have them picked up the Treasurer would appreciate if you could get your money in by December 31, 2020. The cost of the Calendars are $8.00 each. Thanks in advance.

Due to the limited numbers we are permitted at worship, we are planning for two (2) services on Christmas Eve. They will be at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Those who plan to attend must register by December 20th, 2020. You may register by calling Bernice Hynes at 627-3327. When you call you will be asked how many form your bubble will be attending and which service you wish to attend. IF YOU WISH TO ATTEND YOU MUST REGISTER.

The United Church Women’s Annual Christmas Bake Sale scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2020 is CANCELLED for this year. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the increase number of cases daily and the recommendation to not have large gatherings. Hopefully things will be back to normal next year.

Everyone is required to wear a mask to church, your mask can be removed once seated, replace mask when moving around. Please sanitize your hands upon entering church. TENDER Fogo Island United Church are accepting tenders for janitor/care-taker. The janitor/care-taker will be responsible for keeping the church sanitized after each service as well as regular cleaning of church building, will be responsible to open the church for regular church services and any special services. Here we are in the middle of Holy Week, but it really doesn't feel like it. Under normal circumstances, we would be gathering at one of the churches on the Island for an ecumenical service. However, due to the Covid 19 virus this is impossible. It seems strange not to be able to meet with each other to worship God at this time of the year. By now most of you are probably feeling the effects of self-isolation. It is not pleasant and can be trying at times. However, the person...al sacrifices that we make during this time are small when compared with the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Good Friday is a reminder that things do not always turn out the way that we plan. However, it is still the story of God's love. The good news is that Easter awaits. There is still hope of resurrection and new life. May we take this time to give God thanks for all the good things that He has given us. Update from Fogo Island Pastoral Charge We would like to try to keep everyone updated on the status of our Church. The Church will remained closed indefinitely during this pandemic. Even though the church is not open every Sunday there are still bills that have to be paid for the Church, Church Hall and Manse. (Hydro, Oil, Insurance, Telephone to name a few) We are encouraging everyone to continue to send your weekly offering. You may do so by mailing them to Palma Collins,... P.O. Box 94, Stag Harbour, NL A0G 4B0 or you can give Palma a call and make other arrangements. Also, if you would like to consider having your church giving to continue by a pre-authorized payment you may do so contacting the Treasurer, Palma Collins @ 627-3222 and she will forward the appropriate form to you to carry to the bank to get set up. We must continue to follow government guidelines, so we have to continue Social distancing, stay at home and continue to wash our hands. We hope everyone remains safe. On behalf of Fogo Island United Church we would like to extend sincere condolences to the family of the late Voila Penney and the family of the late Jack Rowe. Due to the Corona-19 Virus our church family couldn't come together for these families. Due to restrictions implemented by First Dawn Eastern Edge Regional Council and Government the UCW was unable to provide food for the families. We hope you all understand. God bless you all.
