Food Bank on the Edge 29.09.2020

Effective immediately, the Food Bank on the Edge will no longer accept any donations other than non-perishable food. In an effort to operate safely into the fa...ll and winter, we will need the space for food storage. Clients will not be allowed in the Food Bank building, everything will be distributed out the back deck. We are hopeful that sometime in the future we will be able to accept your household donations again. Thank you for your patience and understanding. See more

Time to acknowledge a service that has been invaluable to the Food Bank on the Edge. We have been receiving food donations from our Hub, Nanaimo Loaves and Fis...hes, at a rate we have never seen. Every week or two a shipment is earmarked for the FBOTE. WESTCOAST CONNECT, Ryan Wackett, Elsie Koulelis, Ken, the driver, have donated their time and trucks to make sure we receive every donation of food we can get. THANK YOU all so much for this generous and important service. We appreciate you so much. See more

X-Large kudos this week go to Chris Bird. Chris has always been a champion of the Food Bank on the Edge but this week he did something "eggs"-traordinary. He ...saw to it that we received a huge amount of eggs for our clients, here and in Hitacu. He took another load of eggs to Tofino to distribute among the communities there. This was a very big effort but Chris did an "eggs"-cellent job, all while wearing a smile on his face. Thank you, Chris. We appreciate your ongoing support. See more

Taking a moment to acknowledge a huge blessing for the Food Bank on the Edge. Even before the COVID crisis, this business was donating breads to us weekly. Th...e first week after the lockdown, who shows up on Food Bank day with a box of bread that he personally delivered? A hint . . . he is an award-winning chef, bread-baking, chicken frying, donut making local . . . THANK YOU to PLUVIO, Chef Warren and Lily, for your ongoing generosity. It is so lovely to see you walking (or driving if raining) down to deliver your donation. He says we are helping keep his sourdough starter alive but we know we have a special place in his heart.
