Unfortunately, during this pandemic, I have observed an uptick of new patients who have developed foot problems while working from home. Going barefoot without footwear has been a common cause of foot pain. Walking barefoot on ceramic tiles and hardwood floors is difficult on your feet especially over an extended period of time. Eventually, you might stub your toes, Ouch! Some people have acquired the "Quarantine 19" of weight gain which unfortunately places more stress o...n their feet. Next up is the decision to start a home exercise routine. This too can lead to foot problems. And finally people have been performing a lot of work around their homes which also has contributed to new foot problems. Post script. I forgot to add this foot problem. People have try to cut their nails to avoid an ingrown nail. Unfortunately, they have caused an infected ingrown nail. #pandemicfootpain #footpain 4 Pandemic Behaviors That Might Be Affecting Your Feet | HEALTH NYOOOZ http://ow.ly/iwF530rEH5d

Spring weather is rejuvenating. We all get outside and start doing activities that our bodies are sometimes not ready to perform. Unfortunately, the increased activity will produce foot problems. One of the foot problems that people will seek treatment for is pain on the outside of their foot(lateral aspect). Generally lateral foot pain can occur when there is lateral instability of the foot. This lateral foot instability will cause the lateral lower leg (peroneal) muscle...s to activate during a time when they are usually inactive. This can lead to joint problems around the cuboid bone. As indicated in the article, there are a number of physical therapy modalities that are very helpful in addressing the pain of peroneal tendonitis. Stabilizing the plantar lateral side of the foot via foot orthotic therapy can help to off load the personal muscles. Foot mobilisation techniques on the lateral aspect of the foot can address any cuboid dysfunction. Peroneal Tendonitis From Running | Peroneal Tendonitis Treatment http://ow.ly/A96130rCl2t See more
There are some great tips on how to choose a running shoe in this article. I want to add one more tip. It is difficult for running shoe buyers to visualise the length and width of their foot inside the running shoe. I advise my patients to remove the removable insole from the running shoe and place it on the floor. The insole represents the surface area inside of the running shoe. ... The next step is to carefully put their foot on top of the insole by making sure their heel sits properly in the heel seat of the insole. At this point, they can visualize if their foot width and height fits inside the insole. The widest part of the forefoot should fit to the widest part of the insole. The distance from the longest toe to the end of the insole should be the width of their thumb. Put the insole back into the running shoe. Try the shoe on and go for a walk. Comfort is the most important factor. Orthopedists explain how to make sure your shoes properly fit | PhillyVoice https://www.phillyvoice.com/how-choose-running-shoes-best-/ See more
You should never assume you will recover quickly from an ankle sprain. Depending on the severity of the ankle sprain it could take up to 6 months to completely heal. It is always a good idea to seek treatment for an ankle sprain. An acute ankle sprain problem can become a chronic problem if not address by the proper treatment protocols. Unfortunately, I treat a lot of patients with foot problems that may have been the result of an ankle sprain that occurred months or years ago. I could not agree more with this article. After the COVID lockdown in Ontario was lifted, our clinics started to see the affects of people going barefoot during the lockdown. We treated heel and forefoot pain along with a lot of ingrown nails. These problems continued throughout the summer and into the fall as people continued to work from home. Some patients started wearing flip flops during the summer which lead to more foot pain. During my initial consultation with any patient I always want to get a good background of what you might have been doing before you started having foot pain. There are many reasons and clues to why your feet are painful. Usually the external forces and pressures being applied to your feet, due to your activities or shoes, cannot be tolerated by your bones, pigments, fascia, tendon, muscles, nerves and skin. Unfortunately, this will lead to pain. My aim is to help identify these external forces and help you minimize the effect on your foot. I hope the COVID 19 pandemic comes to an end soon. The sandal season will be here soon. Your sandal should have a built in heel cup and arch support. Your sandal should have enough straps to keep your feet firmly on the sandal foot bed. I recommend a sandal back strap. However, most people like the convenience of no back strap, to allow their feet to slide in. If you wear a regular flat flip flop, you may have to grip with your toes to keep you feet on the flip flop foot bed. This scenario usually causes ball of the foot pain as the sandal season progresses. 15 Best Walking Sandals for 2020, According to a Podiatrist https://www.prevention.com//best-walking-sandals-for-women/
