In November 2018 I interviewed the talented Richie Berger whilst I was in Austria. It was a lucky chance meeting. I was in Solden coaching a danish ski club and... it’s instructors for the week. A huge honor to be invited to the other side of the world to share my thoughts on skiing and how the body works. At the same time Richie Berger, a technical skier I look up to, happened to be staying at the same hotel as us and skiing with a group the same week. I asked if we would be gracious enough to allow me to interview him at the hotel one afternoon. I recorded the interview and then transcribed it for a blog article on bigpictureskiing. One of the most interesting parts of the interview is his perspective on inside/ outside ski pressure in a long turn and what he tries to focus on. Most of us, maybe more the beginner skier, may think that since our foot/ankle is in a ski boot our ankles do not play a role in how we ski. Well that isn’t 100% true.
