Larry King was a close friend and a key advisor to Forbes&Manhattan for over 15 years. We travelled together all over the world including Moscow, Kiev, most of Europe. He and his family were frequent visitors at our summer house on the lake in Muskoka, Canada. What can one say about one of the funniest and kindest men, on top of being the greatest interviewer of all time, that has not been covered in the media? From the fun we had at breakfasts punctually at 9 am at Nate n’ ...Al’s on Beverly Drive to Sunday dinners at Craig’s with his mates Sid and Ash, he truly was iconic. His love of baseball was mercurial. He would forget a name but remember who won the World Series going back forty years, in what inning and the name of the pitcher ! His capacity to pull off interviews and panel discussions with NO preparation is what made him Larry King. Often he would host conferences for Forbes&Manhattan around the world and never missed a step. What he truly loved was comedy. He would often remark that he would have been a stand up comedian but there was no money in it ! He never forgot his humble roots, going back to his childhood as a poor Jewish kid growing up in Brooklyn and reminded everyone that his first pair of prescription glasses were paid for by the NY State. His closest friends were all from Brooklyn that he knew for over 70 years. As we became friends, I was lucky to be one of the fewyoung Indian Canadian kids who was allowed in that inner sanctum. And boy did we have fun in that group. Larry would tell stories and jokes that could last forever. I will miss you my friend. You were truly a fun loving and giving person in my life. My sympathies go out to his two sons, who I love very much, Chance and Cannon, and the entire King family. Stan
