Anyone recognize these glasses? They were left by our window with no note, and we're not sure whether someone was hoping for a repair or intended them for the donation box.

Anti-fog lens wipes are back in stock! Fogging lenses can be a huge problem when everything you do uses lenses... We've tried alllllll the anti-fog tricks you've heard of and these wipes really get us through the day. Pre-moistened towelettes individually packaged in boxes of 60. Great to keep handy in your purse, car or backpack for back-to-school!

Last week, I sent our MPP, Mr Hardeman, 5 pages of signatures from concerned patients who signed our petition to the government since July. I know that many more of you have written to him directly, or voiced your support on saveyecare.ca. The following email was received from Mr Hardeman and I would like to address the spin the government is putting on their reply, just in case any of you have received the same one. "Total fees paid... have grown" means more people are utilizing our services and having eye exams paid for by OHIP. It does not indicate that we are being paid more per exam over those 5 years. In fact, it means we are actually subsidizing more exams. Yet it is the only rebuttal they have. Thank you for your continued support, folks.

Good news! The Eye See, Eye Learn program providing eye exams and FREE glasses to JK students has been extended! If your child born in 2015 missed an eye exam due to the COVID-19 closure, they are eligible for the program up to the end of the year. And those born in 2016 are eligible now through the end of June 2021! We have lots of exams slots reserved this month for the back-to-school rush so give us a call!

Here's a good look at why Optometric eye care in the province is at risk, especially for rural practices like ours. Please visit http://saveeyecare.ca to sign the petition and tell the Ministry you value what Optometrists do!

**COVID-19 update: The regulatory body for Optometry in Ontario has just notified us that we must close down for all non-urgent appointments until further notice. We will be in touch to reschedule these exams for you as soon as we can set a predictable schedule, and we anticipate opening up some additional office hours to reduce the bottleneck in demand. In the meantime, we will still be available for urgent care on an on-call basis. Should you experience an eye emergenc...y such as infection, eye injury or foreign body, sudden loss of vision, double vision, or new onset flashes or floaters, please call the office and leave a detailed message including name, eye problem, and contact number, and either Dr Laurie or her staff will be in touch will you within the hour to make arrangements. It is recommended that you not bog down the ER with such concerns at this time. If you require a contact lens order, we may be able to have them shipped directly to your home if your prescription is current. If you are awaiting glasses on order, we will try to make arrangements once they arrive. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and for your continued support as we try to navigate this. Stay well, everyone. -Dr Laurie Canham Kilby

We've got alcohol wipes, lysol, clorox, hydrogen peroxide, hand sanitizer and good ol' fashioned soap and water in our arsenal, today and every day.
