Forest City Archers 18.10.2020

Luxury deer bedding accommodations.

Forest City Archers 05.10.2020

This is what happened when I got home tonight. I cried. I cried at work yesterday. I also cried 3 different times last night after getting home from work. I am ...an Office Administrator at an elementary school and this is how my day has gone. I'm crying because the work and expectations that have been put upon us with the added ridiculous time frames are overwhelming. I'm crying because I am having to answer the phone and hear the concerns and frustrations of parents who are upset at the policies put in place to protect their children while they are at school. I'm crying because I have to call home for a child who is sick and risk getting yelled at because I have now inconvenienced a parent who has to get a Covid test for their child. I'm crying because I have been told to get my shit together because a policy has changed and someone doesn't agree (I didnt change the policy, I am just following the policy). I am crying because I have 400 children and 50 staff to help try and keep healthy & illness free during a Pandemic yet parents continue to send their children to school sick (regardless if it is just a cold and not Covid - you shouldn't send them anyway!). So the next time you answer the phone and it is one of the school office staff calling, please remember that he/she has probably already been yelled at, spoken down to, and just right out disrespected and is already nervous about calling home again for a student. We know it can be an inconvenience, we know you may have to cancel plans, we understand that you may need a few minutes to make a phone call to get Grandpa or Grandma or a neighbor to pick them up - we are human too. A simple thank you for calling will suffice and a smile at the door when you pick up your baby. Remember I am the one who also comforts your child when they fall and need ice and a funny story to turn their day around or a bandaid and a hug to get rid of the tears because they scraped their knee. I also reassure your child when they are crying because they forgot their lunch and life is now over. I'm the person who makes sure your child gets their medication at lunch or helps to checks their blood sugar before they eat. I also stay with your child at the end of the day when they missed the bus or someone hasn't come to pick them up yet and they now think they have to sleep at the school! We wear many hats in the office and many times we work in the shadows going unnoticed. Be kind and be thankful that there is someone looking out for your child when you can't be there with them. This is not a joke. This is not a drill. #COVID19 is spreading widely and you need to pay attention. Cancel your parties and ALL get-togethers. That means movie... nights, games nights, study groups - being around anyone who is not your roommate or significant other. If you’re on campus, it’s critical to stay two metres apart from everyone and wear a mask. If you have symptoms, get tested (e.g. fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, etc.). See the full list: https://bit.ly/3iGZtjL If you’ve been contacted by #MLHU or public health, get tested. Otherwise, don’t get tested. Monitor yourself for symptoms and do your part to prevent the spread. If you’ve tested negative recently so what?! You can still get it. You need to cancel all your parties and get-togethers and stay only with your roommate and significant other. Testing is available at Western University's testing trailer, located in the Social Science Centre parking lot. Hours: Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Appointments are also available through the Student Health Care Clinic. Opening tomorrow! Saturday 23 May

Forest City Archers 18.07.2020

We don’t know yet if archery clubs can open tomorrow or not. Rod and gun clubs are and yes if they have archery, I assume that opened too. BUT our situation is different and we have to wait for the government update and the ok from Archery Ontario and UTRCA. Then the club has a lot to do to make sure guidelines are met.

Forest City Archers 08.07.2020

From Archery Ontario: no archery clubs can open this weekend. Hope to learn soon about opening on Tuesday 19 May.

Forest City Archers 29.06.2020

When an opening date is confirmed, a post and emails will go out. Please wait patiently! Just because the Premier announced changes, does not mean specific knowledge and confirmation is available right away. Thank you.

The Club remains closed, as do all Conservation AREAS. Premier Ford allowed Conservation Reserves to open, which used to be called Nature Reserves. As an outdoor recreational/sports amenity, FCA remains closed until further notice. Thank you!

We are all interested in getting back to outdoor activities, like archery at the Forest City Archers. However, the shut down ban is government mandated, not Club mandated. It is not up to the FCA Executive to close or re-open the facility. Membership fees pay for new targets, replacement vitals for those targets, Club events and the lease of the property from the UTRCA. None of these expenses are refundable. The Club will reopen when the Ontario government tells us it is sa...fe to do so. Thanks, Kathy Hysen Secretary FCA
