That’s a wrap! Congratulations on your races!! From my family to you and yours, thank you SO much to all of you who participated in the 39th annual Canada Life Forest City Road Races! ... I have to be honest, planning an event through the changing restrictions was a roller coaster ride. In the fall our whole team was holding onto having some sort of in person event. In December I was getting worried about having to add in virtual. We waited 2 full months longer than we usually do to make the call and open registration.... I am extremely excited and happy to announce that this was our absolute highest online fundraising year in the history of the races for the TVCC! And the local charities in our partners program too!! (YAY!!!) Over $20 000 from your online fundraising efforts will go to the kid’s programs and services at the TVCC!! Plus our awesome volunteer treasurer Sherry will tally all the race expenses and sponsor donations and add to that too! (Holy cow!!) Thank you to our sponsors whom all jumped right on board and as always are absolutely amazing to work with! Thank you to our FCRR supporters and participants!!! We had to cap registration at 1500 people because we were having troubles due to covid in getting supplies for the race kits. SO the even more incredible factor to all of this is that we did all of this with over 1000 people less than we normally do!! (Wow!!) Also, I was blown away by all of your pictures, posts, positive words and nice emails. Even though we were virtual this year, it really feels like we have such an amazing community. Next April is our 40th anniversary of the races!! We hope we can see you in person. It will be quite the event and celebration!! Thank you all again!! One benefit of virtual is that we were able to have participants ALL over Canada and the World! In Shubenacadie Nova Scotia, we had 4 families from 3 generations who live on or right across the street from their family farm participate!!! @bokmafarms. The "pre-show" was the 10 grandchildren who all raced around one of the barns and back. The "main event" was "Oma & Tante" doing their first and fastest 5k race ever!! ... This was my first year doing the Forest City Road Race. This is the year of virtuals and so great to start with this one! Thank you for your teamwork and effort in getting everyone their shirts and medals.

Happy Friday!! You should be starting to get your shirts and/or medals today!! (If you haven’t already) When you open, you will find that we had to do quite a bit to ensure that we could send them out in regular mail instead of parcel shipping. ... Including folding them with a t-shirt folder around card stock, putting them in ziplock, and vacuum sealing them

*update :) We received our shirts on Wednesday morning and our volunteer drivers were able to get 1318 porch drop-offs completed by Saturday!! :) (whoohoo!! Thank you team!!) We have about 125 to deliver/mail out. ... We are waiting on envelopes to send out the rest. As soon as they come, we will get them in the mail to you. In the meantime, now that things have calmed down and we aren't in a mad-dash, our volunteers are headed back out to deliver to some of smaller surrounding towns in the next few days. *If you live in London and haven't received yours yet, please sign-in to your Race Roster and check your address. We had quite a few that went to old addresses (and sounds like we inspired some new runners lol). If you didn't receive it (for whatever reason), you are more than welcome to come pick it up in North London (near Masonville Mall). Just email shauna@forestcityroadraces and I will send you the address and times. Or can mail it with the rest. *If you live outside of London, we will post an update of when they are all delivered/mailed out (and please allow about a week after that). You are also welcome to come pick up if you are wanting to get out of the house for a drive :) *Please continue to post, share and send us pictures! We are adding them to our FCRR2020 album so that we can always remember this time that we were together in spirit. *Once all of the medals are mailed out, we will set a deadline for the virtual race (we completely understand that some of you are waiting for your medal to complete your distance). We will then do a random draw of the participants who posted their virtual results for prizes. (It's not fair to have prizes in each category for times when everyone ran a different course in different conditions.
