Dear Forest City Tirecraft. I'm Grant Leishman, a 5th year mechanical engineering student and 2021 team captain for Western Formula Racing. ... On behalf of myself and the rest of the team, I would like to express our unremitting gratitude for all of your support throughout the 2020 season. Despite the turbulent global circumstances over the past few months, your generosity has allowed us to be one of the most successful 2020 FSAE teams in the world. With our competitions cancelled and shop space locked up, we persevered by uprooting ourselves and organizing a small group of key members to work within public/personal safety guidelines at a remote location. Final assembly and first drive of the WFR20-E in early May made us the only team out of 750+ worldwide to complete our car during the pandemic, and is still currently one of the only cars in a drivable state across North America. Despite not being able to go head-to-head against our fellow FSAE teams, we had the opportunity to compete in local AutoX events against stock and aftermarket racers. Putting down the fastest laps in every event confirmed to us that this vehicle is every bit as exceptional as we predicted it would be. We'll carry this success forward into the 2021 season, the design phase for WFR21-E is already underway! Forest City Tirecraft has always played a major role in our success with all of your help changing our tires. Especially with our new carbon rims, we are always excited to come visit you with a new set! You've helped keep the WFR20-E on track for countless laps to come, and we would be more than happy to continue developing the relationship between Forest City Tirecraft and Western Formula Racing.
