We would like to express extreme gratitude towards everyone who has registered, donated and supported this R4R fundraiser. This velodrome means a lot to all the volunteers who selflessly give to this facility and make this place what it is. On behalf of the FCV board of directors we sincerely thank you for everything you continue to do for this very unique place here in London, Ontario. Come enjoy a ride with us soon!

Putting in a REAL effort, for REAL causes, REAL people, REAL heroes. What is the RIDE4REAL Team Challenge? See how far you can go before October 31st. All ride distances travelled will be tracked virtually across our Canada wide map starting in St John's Newfoundland! ... How can you take part and help? REGISTER: By registering, you are showing support for this event. If you are creating a team, all participants must register. DONATE: Only if your able. Any amount helps and counts. JOIN: Make a fundraising team or join an existing fundraising team. The focus here, on this team, is fundraising and not distance. There is no cap on how many members can join a fundraising team. RECRUIT: Take this on as an individual or put together a team roster of 2-6 people. To create a team, name a team captain and register your team as a separate entry. The focus is on this team is combined total distance. You don't need GPS ride files. All rides can be typed in manually. Team mates just need to submit the time and distance to the team captain and the team captain can easily type in the rider's kilometers (any distance discrepancies can easily be cross referenced with Strava). 5. SHARE: INVITE YOUR FRIENDS! Challenge other teams and clubs and share the love on social media! https://raceroster.com/events/2020/34649/ride4real Our Cause FCV | You do not have to ride the track at FCV, or be a track rider to understand the significance of this facility within our cycling community. It has been a starting point for many of our great athletes. MS | This event will also support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and the help provide some much needed funding and relief to an organization filled with many real heroes. THE REAL HERO | The Real Hero will recognize the unsung heroes of our community with praise, thoughtful gifts and needed support. What the Heck did Ed Veal do? 3 weeks. 21 consecutive days. 6300 kilometers travelled. 180+ hours. Ed rode 300kms for three weeks consecutively on different bikes on varying terrain. This included road, track, MTB, gravel, hand cycle, recumbent and even BMX. He did this in order to raise awareness for the great causes listed above. A big thank you to those who already have registered, donated and took part. You can still register and donate in order to continue to support this amazing feat of endurance. The greatest gift of all is sharing this message with others. It is not how big the donation but more about registering to raise awareness of the RIDE4REAL challenge and encouraging others to help make a difference. https://raceroster.com/events/2020/34649/ride4real

2020 certainly has been a strange year for organized group rides! So far, the season has definitely been the year of the solo ride! The London Cycling Club (...in Ontario, Canada) has a history of creating and selling fun cycling t-shirts to raise funds for local cycling charities. This year, the LCC is promoting this t-shirt design (created by Sue Stevens, a member of the London Cycling Club), screened by http://www.shirtforbrains.ca (a local small business) and offered for sale through the on-line etsy store https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/UpShirtsCreek (also a local small business). Shirts are available in unisex and ladies' fits, and there will be an option for a technical wicking shirt (coming soon!) The design can be put onto a variety of shirt colours, which are all listed in the etsy store under the description. You can order the shirt by clicking here! (https://www.etsy.com//829756496/cycling-t-shirt-the-year-o) For every shirt ordered before September 30, 2020, $5 will be donated to the Big Bike Giveaway (a London, Ontario organization that collects and repairs bikes and donates those to community members in need). For those ordering in London, Ontario, you can arrange for local pick up, and save yourself the shipping costs if you would like (read the instructions in the store for this option). Feel free to share this around. UpShirtsCreek ships worldwide!! We hope you like the design!
