A poem I wrote last night when I couldn’t sleep, dreams that kept my being awake, coffee, Beltane lavender plant. Like sediments, emotion becomes compounded / the superfluous nature of feeling stilled by times weighted presence / I can feel the silent inquiry of the unsaid / probing for the fossil fuels of that which was left for dead / these are precious resources / small memories trapped in the honey of amber / some sweetness is impenetrable; some sweetness cannot be consu...med even by the earth. Hardening into obscurity/ where only the trained of eye can / see past the trauma of calcification / it is written written in our history - this lack of appreciation. This yearning for / what no longer can be, the illusions of what was / you would like it if we could turn back time / you would like it if learning was not in hindsight / you would like it if you had rights to the sacred territories the sticky resources belong to; the work of refinement laying before you / it is forgotten that attainment does not equate to keeping - that keeping does not induce using; that all these choices are not without consequences / I must ask how you are so sure it is not unnatural to raise the dead / from the ground; how you became certain the venom in the bones of it all / has not stayed preserved in the marrow / how else could the compost become greenery? Do I benefit from this profit? / it does not bring me joy to see you / burned from your rancid medicine / how deep must one drill to move past the shell of sorrows? / this is my shield, an inevitable protection of excavation of your story / what has happened must stay; it is what stabilizes / what shall be / removing the ruins doesn’t change the history that is remembered / that is documented even beyond the ground I build my life upon. #thesecretthirdspace

Tfw you wake up with a snack hangover in true tauresian fashion

What does your Sunday afternoon look like? I have tan lines from this morning, many new full pages in my journal, a fridge full of nourishment and a clean apartment. While I’m not surprised by Thursdays announcement, I do still feel in shock about it - that there haven’t been any exposures at small businesses who are hit the hardest and have the least support. I’m trying to be gentle with myself and know that not all my energy has to go to fixing a situation but trying to t...ake care of myself - truly and genuinely - during this wave. Mostly I neglect my body - moving, eating properly, hydration, finding pleasure. So this time it’s my first priority. If I can wake up everyday and ask myself what I need as a human, as a body; as Forest... I can better show up for the other things that need me. I often sayjust choose one thing because the rest will follow and we don’t need to burden ourselves all the time with everything we feel we must do. I hope during this Taurus season you can do the same. Asking yourself what your values are and how those are truly prioritized in the actions you take is a good place to start if you aren’t sure how to do that.
