Accidents happen. The most important thing to remember when someone has broken a tooth is not to panic. First, take a look around for the tooth. If it’s an adult tooth, and it’s clean and whole, place it back in the empty socket. If you can’t place it back in the mouth, keep the missing tooth moist by packing it in milk or saliva. If it’s a baby tooth, bring it along to the dental office just in case we need to see it. Next call us! Let us know what happened and we’ll get you in as soon as we can. If for some reason you can’t get through to us, then head to the emergency room and call us for a follow-up appointment.

While brushing and flossing help to remove plaque and regular hygiene visits are important, too fluoride is a secret weapon that helps in a different way. This mineral not only has the power to prevent tooth decay, but it can also repair your teeth when they’re in the earliest stages of tooth decay. When was your last in-office fluoride treatment? Call (403) 272-6706 today to schedule your next hygiene visit, and be sure to ask us if a fluoride treatment would be right for you.

As permanent teeth grow in, they may appear darker and more yellow than primary teeth. Don’t worry, this is completely normal. Adult teeth have more dentin than primary teeth, which shows through the translucent enamel layer giving adult teeth a healthy off-white or yellow colour. Once all the primary teeth have been lost, you won’t even notice the colour.

Sometimes parents wonder when their child is considered ready to brush their teeth without help. While every child is different, we find age 6-9 is usually when a child has the dexterity to brush on their own. Watch this video to find out more.

Dental implants allow you to eat comfortably, just like you had a full set of natural teeth. No more worrying about a slipping denture when you bite, or only being able to chew foods if they’re cut into tiny bites. Enjoy meals with your loved ones again.
