Eastern Christianity recognizes a different date for Easter because they follow the Julian calendar, as opposed to the Gregorian calendar which is widely used by most countries today. The Julian Calendar was proposed by Julius Caesar in 46 BC, in which the year consisted of 365 days, every fourth year having 366 days. It was later revised by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, and that edition eventually became the Gregorian calendar. Today is Lag BaOmer, a minor holiday that occurs on the 33rd day of the Omer, the 49-day period between Passover and Shavuot. A break from the semi-mourning of the Omer, key aspects of Lag B’omer include holding Jewish weddings (it’s the one day during the Omer when Jewish law permits them), lighting bonfires and getting haircuts. Ida and Steven were supposed to move into Forestview in March, but Covid19 had other plans. Ida Staryk ended up in hospital and they hadn’t seen each other for 3 months! The team reunited them with a magical evening sealed with a kiss!
