Developing a routine that allows space for both of these parts of yourself alongside them being in relationship together is essential. This will look different for everyone as YOU know how to grow in your relationship with God and you know YOUR emotional needs. Within routine and consistency allow yourself some grace and flexibility to figure out what this will look like for you. Would love to hear how you have learnt to balance this in... your own life OR if you are in the midst of discovering what that looks now, what routines you are looking to start? Comment below or send me a DM to continue the conversation! . . . #forfreedomcounselling #counselling #counsellor #therapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #stress #recovery #support #selfcare #anxiety #depression #socialworker #health #mindfulness #healing #faith #toronto #northyork #markham #gta #virtualcounselling #virtualtherapy #trauma #childhoodtraumasupport #traumatherapy #psychotherapytoronto #psychotherapist See more

God created you to experience all emotions. SAD. MAD. GLAD. Yes, ALL OF THEM! Often we want to only be glad and good in our spiritual and emotional life. God created you to experience all these emotions in relationship with Him. He is not afraid or overwhelmed by your intense and difficult emotions, rather he is calm and present with you through them. He gave you emotions to help you make good wise decisions in your practical day to day life but he also gave them t...o you to experience the joy, anger, and sadness in relationship with Him. Be angry at God and wrestle it out with him. Be sad he is not physically here ruling the new earth. Be glad he loves and cares for you deeply and is FOR you! Allowing emotions in your relationship with Him is appropriate. Allowing your emotions to govern your relationship with Him however, is not. Be steadfast in biblical truths about WHO God is and allow yourself grace and freedom to express your emotions within that. If this resonates with you and you feel could benefit from more conversation about in this, feel free to reach out! I would love to see if we are a good fit for working together so that you can feel more spiritually and emotionally healthy in your every day life! . . . #forfreedomcounselling #counselling #counsellor #therapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #stress #recovery #support #selfcare #anxiety #depression #socialworker #health #mindfulness #healing #faith #toronto #northyork #markham #gta #virtualcounselling #virtualtherapy #trauma #childhoodtraumasupport #traumatherapy #psychotherapytoronto #psychotherapist #spiritualhealth #emotionalhealth See more

Both these parts of ourselves need specific care and attention. Going to church to address depression may not cure you. Going to therapy to find peace with God may leave you restless. Allowing yourself to feel difficult emotions is essential to emotional health but when you feel like a bad Christian for experiencing depression or anxiety this is toxic. If you have mental or emotional health struggles, challenge yourself to stand steadfast in your right standing with God. If... you slip and make a mistake in your faith life, challenge yourself to bring in God’s forgiveness instead of withdrawing and shaming yourself about it. What do you think your spiritual and emotional life would look like if they were appropriately separated? . . . . #forfreedomcounselling #counselling #counsellor #therapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #stress #recovery #support #selfcare #anxiety #depression #socialworker #health #mindfulness #healing #faith #toronto #northyork #markham #gta #virtualcounselling #virtualtherapy #trauma #childhoodtraumasupport #traumatherapy #psychotherapytoronto #psychotherapist #spiritualhealth #emotionalhealth See more

Our emotions take time to develop within ourselves through our childhood. We need our caregivers to teach us how to recognize whats going on inside of us and help us know how to express our feelings and be free of the emotional burden. Emotions can get stuck in the body and can make us feel emotionally immaturelike when you feel like an angsty teenager around your controlling boss (lol). If we are not emotionally healthy we may find ourselves suppressing our feelings, over-...rationalizing our feelings, shaming ourselves for feeling a certain way or getting mad that we are mad etc. Emotional health is learning how to recognize when you have an emotion, responding to it with openness and compassion, giving it space to be experienced and expressed, and letting it go. Emotional health is allowing an emotional to move up and out of you with kindness. Do you struggle to do this for yourself? How can you start to grow in your emotional capacity for difficult feelings? If this resonates with you and you feel could use more guidance in this area, feel free to reach out!
