MEW-TERNITY WARD FUNDRAISER A Message from our Mommas We only have a few days left for our maternity ward fundraiser. The momma cats rescued by Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue know that they and their kittens are in good care and, without help, many of them would not have survived. In addition, the spay\neuter surgery they will receive will help reduce the overpopulation of cats in the community. To make a donation to support our feline families, simply click here: canadahelps.o...rg Momma cats seen below: Top Row: Blueberry, Chloe and Rose. Bottom Row: Mimosa, Ester and Lila. #mommacatsrule #fundraiser #kittenseason #kittensofintagram

MEW-TERNITY WARD FUNDRAISER Introducing Rose Rose was a pregnant stray when she was humanely trapped a few weeks ago. The frightened, timid cat has come a long way from when she first arrived at a Forgotten Ones foster home. Foster mom Jeannette gives this update: Rose is doing really well! She has a sweet temperament and, now, she will always purr when petted. Rose is very beautiful with really striking colouring. I can’t wait to see how her babies look! Rescuing pregnant cats has great impact, as it helps stop the cycle of unwanted kittens being born to a life of hardship. We are fundraising to help pay for veterinary costs for mamma cats, expectant cats, and kittens in our feline maternity ward. To make a much-appreciated donation click here: canadahelps.org.

When he was rescued, Rusty had been a homeless cat that had sought shelter in a barn. He craved human interaction and his gratitude for affection was evident as soon as he was brought into a Forgotten Ones foster home. Rusty is now receiving lots of pets and pats from his forever family.... #RichmondHillOntario #OrangeCatsRock #AdoptedCat

Nikki, Claire, and their siblings were very young when they were rescued from a cat colony, a life that is very hard for kittens. The sweet sisters are loving being pampered by their new family and, happily, they will be snuggling through the winter, not struggling. #catsisters #richmondhillontatio #adopted #catagram

New Arrival - Filbert Filbert was rescued recently, along with 3 other orange tabby boys, and will be posted for adoption soon. Filbert is a people lover but would do best as a single pet. He showed his thanks quickly by giving his foster dad kisses on the first day!

Silver and Pepper were surrendered to Forgotten Ones due to their former owner’s illness. We received this update from their adoptive family: Pepper and Silver have settled in nicely. These two get along well and are always together, and they are the most affectionate and snuggly cats you could imagine. We couldn’t be happier! #catlovers #rescuecats #adopted

Smidgen update from her foster mom: Smidgen has been eating solid food - no kitten formula! - for the past 3 days! We have added a new medication, an antacid, to her regimen. So now she gets an esophageal motility aid (metoclopramide) 3 times daily, and an antacid (famotidine) twice daily. This combination seems to be working well! Her food does still need to be watered down to a thinner consistency, but this is a HUGE step forward. #aSmidgenofkitten ... #smittenwithSmidgen #felinemegaesophagus See more

George was a homeless cat when he was rescued by Forgotten Ones in 2018. He was an older, FIV+ cat who had been trying to survive on the city streets. Despite the harsh life George had been leading, he was a loving, friendly fellow. George has settled in well with his forever family who describe him as "a funny little guy with a big personality!" #catsofinstagram #richmondhillontario #catlove

Smidgen has been with us for 3.5 months. I've never spent so much time with one single cat in 3.5 months, as I have with Smidgen. That's not the only reason I think she is so adorable, right? Smidgie goes to see a specialist on Tuesday. I am on pins and needles hoping for good news (an operable condition). We will all be devastated to learn of a bad outcome expected for her. Praying for Smidgen.... #aSmidgenofkitten #smittenwithSmidgen #felinemegaesophagus See more

Smidgen update: 3 months after rescue. Oh sweet Smidgen, sweet, tiny girl with an indomitable spirit. We have had our struggles these past few weeks, super high amazing days of growth and playfulness, followed by days of backtracking and downward spiraling health issues, then building right back up again. Back and forth every few days, for weeks. For months, really. Suffice it to say that we are managing, her and I, to make forward progress. She is gaining weight and growing ...Continue reading

Meet HUMPHREY! This ~6-7-year-old Persian beauty is looking for a home. He is SO affectionate and loves being petted, on someone's lap, and snuggled. He is constantly purring! He also loves to knead his paws when you rub his tummy and gets along with other animals. We're looking for a family who are able to give him the same kind of affection and love. HUMPHREY is new to Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue and as we get to know more about him, we will update more information abou...t him on our official website page: http://www.forgottenones.ca/ If you have specific questions about Humphrey, feel free to reach out via our official email address: [email protected] Interested in adopting? Week 7 Smidgen/Week 4 Nala: Well! The days are just speeding by aren't they? But that's a good thing - it means nothing major is happening with either kitten - no day-to-day, up-and-down, life-threatening challenges. The girls actually did quite a bit of travelling last week. They spent 5 days with a temporary foster (thanks very much Maddie and family!) while I was with my own family on a little road trip. I think both sides enjoyed that visit. ... When I arrived back to pick them up, Smidgen was a little subdued. A quick trip to the vet showed that pneumonia was again troubling her. As she is still regurgitating her food at least once a day, it is inevitable that some is entering her lungs. More on that another day.... Anyways, with antibiotics on board, we brought the girls up to Haliburton to visit with family for the long weekend. Boy do they travel well! Of course Smidgen has already been to Grammie's, but both her and Nala loved having new territory to explore. Regular life at home might be humdrum after all this travelling, lol. At any rate, Smidgen is doing much better WRT the pneumonia, and Nala is a darling little dumpling of a kitten. And they play well together. It is hard to choose only a few photos from this past week, they have been so cute and I have taken so many! #aSmidgenofkitten #smittenwithSmidgen #Nalanugget

It's STEWIE and he is looking for a home! This beautiful brown tabby boy is about 10 years old a total sweetheart. Stewie is fairly new to the rescue. Day 46-47 Smidgen/Day 13-14 Nala: Everything is going along tickety-boo. Nala is growing and thriving, Smidgen is lagging behind but still growing, just at her own pace. Smidge had a rough morning on Sunday (I suspect she may have gotten into Nala's wet food and it disagreed with her - will have to guard against that in the future.) By Sunday night Smidgen was back to normal, tummy full of KMR, and lying upside down for chin/belly rubs. Nala is very easy-going, tends to sleep... more than Smidgen, which makes sense as she is about 5 weeks younger. So what seems to work out is that Smidgen gets extra lap time while she waits for Nala to wake up for playtime. No complaints about that from me! #aSmidgenofkitten #smittenwithSmidgen #Nalanugget

We've received a lot of questions regarding adopting kittens in pairs! And Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue & Adoption would love to share the importance of adopting kittens in PAIRS! A kitten learns a lot in the first several months of life from its mother and littermates. Separating a kitten from its mother is often a necessity for adoption purposes, but taking away from its littermates and isolating it can delay the kitten's development emotionally, socially, and sometimes phy...sically. Kittens are curious and crave constant stimulation. A single, bored kitten will often entertain itself by chewing on plants, climbing drapes and furniture, exploring electrical cords and sockets; etc. This is not to say that kittens who live with other kittens won't also do these things, but if they have another kitten to tumble around and play with, it is far less likely that they will need to entertain themselves with behaviors that can potentially be destructive and dangerous. Kittens who are able to remain with at least one of their littermates or a similarly-aged companion tends to be healthier and happier, and in the long run, better-socialized pets than those who are isolated from others of their kind at an early age! If you're still searching for your feline companion to join your family and home, you can view available cats and kittens on our website here: https://www.adoptapet.com//petsear/search_pets_by_shelter For information about our adoption process, you can visit us here: http://www.forgottenones.ca/adoptions/

Day 44-45 Smidgen/Day 11-12 Nala: Awwwwwwwwwww. No kitten should be an only, if it's possible to avoid it. They derive so much from sibling companionship - even when the "siblings" are 2 thrown together singleton foundlings.... 5 week old Nala will likely outgrow 10-week old Smidgen, but for now they are perfectly matched. They play together, sleep together, and look for each other when apart. They are braver and more adventurous together, and teach each other to "play nice". While still very loving with humans, they are less needy, settle down more easily, and I think Nala actually distracts Smidgen from giving in to tummy troubles! And Smidgen has had 2 more very good days. A recheck at the clinic had her vet happy to record a weight gain and an energetic, active kitten. So onward we go! #aSmidgenofkitten #smittenwithSmidgen #Nalanugget

Day 43 for Smidgen, Day 10 in rescue for Nala: Best. Day. Ever. Smidgen and Nala were utter joys today!... Now that Nala is bigger and more fleet of foot, and Smidgen is feeling better, they are the "bestest" of friends! Nala is about 5.5 weeks now, using the litter box (as long as it's not too far when nature calls!) and eating canned kitten food from the dish. She's our little butterball, a love nugget with purr-button touch activation! Smidgen made a quick comeback, has gained back all her lost weight and more to be at an all time high of 544 grams. (Nala is 558 grams. ) Smidge went a full 24 hours without a reflux.... and then lost it at a late night feeding. Oh well, 5 minutes later she made up for it, and then was chasing Nala in and out of the "doughnut" all evening, such fun! Like I mentioned, we are taking it one day at a time with Smidgen, and today was very good. Enjoy these glimpses of Smidgen's and Nala's best day ever. #aSmidgenofkitten #smittenwithSmidgen #Nalanugget
