True to form our ewes pick the coldest days to lamb. Saturday Frosty was born and needed time spent in front of the woodstove to thaw out. Mom had been very at...tentive and cleaned him up nice but the cold was just too much. A little colostrum from mom via tube feeding and a few hours in front of the heat brought him around. He's back with mom and doing well. Happy Family Day everyone. #natureunfiltered #getoutside #forsythefamilyfarms #farmbaby #lamb #familyday #farmlife #allcreatureagreatandsmall #sheep

It's easy to forget how much of a difference half an hour drive can make. During my CSA deliveries in pickering today it was warm and sunny with a beautiful clear blue sky. Here at the farm we are in a winter wonderland! Crossing our fingers that we can still harvest more of our field spinach once the weather clears!
Some big winds, a few snow flakes and rain never stop a farmer. Enjoy this week's extended CSA and shop our online store to add some farm favourites including your favourite jam flavours for friends and neighbours holiday gifts.
We all need a little cheering up right about now.
Did you know there is a wonderful place at Forsythe Family Farms called "The Giving Garden"? Each year, Farmer Jim dedicates part of the farm to growing food for those who may not always have access to it. Throughout the growing season, the wonderful gleaners at 'Feed The Need Durham' (and many other organizations, including our customers and school children) pick and pack the produce! Everyone deserves a full belly! Thanks for all your hard work!
These days are gifts especially after waking up Monday morning to snow and ice and frozen water lines. We are usually open in November - December 24th Friday to Sundays 9:30 - 5:00 but today is too beautiful to miss. Come on out and enjoy.
A little snow never stops a farmer from their harvest. This week we have a fun mix of greens and cold crops for your family to enjoy.
