Fuses and circuit breakers are safety devices in your electrical panel that are designed to prevent overloading and potential fire hazards in your home. I LIVE IN AN OLDER HOME WITH KNOB AND TUBE WIRING. IS THIS SAFE? Yes, provided that the circuitry has not been altered, and the original installation is maintained in proper working conditions. Example - the originally installed overcurrent devices for protection of a typical circuit supplying lighting and receptacles, and wired with knob and tube wiring, would have to be rated at 15 amps maximum.
