Fort Garry Community Centre 15.01.2021

UPDATE as of December 17, 2020 - Outdoor Rinks Good news! FGCC is pleased to report that we are installing ice in our two outdoor rinks at the Hobson site (880 Oakenwald), under the following current Public Health protocols for community centres: Outdoor ice rinks can open, and individuals or families can go skating. However, people engaged in the activity must maintain a separation of at least two metres from others, unless they are from the same household. In addition, ...people must not engage in activities as part of a group of more than five people (that is closer then a 2M distance), unless they all reside in the same household. At this time organized practices, games or outdoor sporting competitions of any kind are not permitted. Municipalities or organizations that operate outdoor rinks are to take reasonable steps to ensure that people using the facility are aware of the requirements of the current public health orders relating to the rinks, including by posting proper signage and/or a social media and website communication strategy that includes the safe use of the outdoor rink. Municipalities and organizations must ensure that dressing rooms, warming shacks and other indoor facilities associated with outdoor sporting or recreational activities are closed while the Orders are in effect. This will be relayed to enforcement officers as well. Further details can be viewed at the GCWCC website: https://www.gcwcc.mb.ca/#:~:text=Outdoor%20Rinks&t.... Depending on weather conditions, we are hoping to have the Hobson ice ready for use by January 1, 2021. As indicated in the above restrictions, please note that the Hobson skate change building and main building will remain closed at this time. There will be no public washroom access or warming amenities. Rink rentals and practice ice bookings are currently on hold until further notice. Thanks for your ongoing understanding. Due to building renovations underway at the Victoria site (80 Derek Street), no ice will be going in at the rinks at this location this season. Families and patrons in the area are encouraged to utilize the Hobson site rinks this winter. Further details and updates on using the outdoor rinks are available on the City's website: https://www.winnipeg.ca/emergweb/covid-19/outdoor-...
