Mystery Artefact Monday! Can you take a guess as to what this tool was used for? #mysteryartefact #manitobaheritage #museumsmanitoba
The holiday season is upon us, and we are excited to share the history of the Victorian Christmas through hands-on heritage videos. In this video, we discuss the history of the Christmas Tree and how they were decorated in the Victorian Period. Follow along as we make a gilded walnut ornament that you can also make at home! What you will need:... - large walnut - gold paint or gold leaf - paintbrush - red ribbon and scissors - hot glue gun and glue sticks (or super glue) https://youtu.be/HP-XTSV-1HU

Well that’s a wrap folks! Thank you Portage for supporting the corn maze at the museum this year. The winner of the scavenger hunt prize is Georgia Ronald!
Mystery Artefact Monday! Can you guess what these little tools are? The first of their kind came from France in the 1750s. They were nicknamed blaireau or badgers because they were made from badger hair (and sometimes boar or horse hair). #mysteryartefact #heritage #historyhighlight
UPDATE: EVENT CANCELLED The snow outside has us excited for our upcoming Yuletide Lights event! Instead of hosting a one day holiday program this year, we decided to offer a socially distanced self-guided walking experience to celebrate the festive season. Walk through the museum grounds and see the heritage buildings beautifully decorated for the holidays like never before. Admission by donation, includes hot chocolate for your walk
October 25th is your last chance to visit the Museum Corn Maze! #cornmaze #exploremb #portagelaprairie #outdoors
The Community Mural Wall is half-way complete! We are still accepting completed mural tiles that were distributed in the Spring. If you have tiles, please reach out to the Museum so that they can be included in the mural. #communitymural #yourmuseum #agriculture #heritage
