Today, November 8, 2020 marks National Aboriginal Veterans Day. This day, established on November 8, 1994, is often marked by remembrance of those Indigenous so...ldiers who were killed in the wars, but also acknowledges that veteran benefits and rights were unevenly distributed to the survivors. Happy Halloween from all of us at Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Historic Fort Normandeau. Be safe!
Here are a couple of our awesome photos from the pickling workshop on Saturday October 3rd! Amazing participants and fantastic end products made for such a memorable experience!
For #OrangeShirtDay, we acknowledge the huge impact that residential schools had -- and have -- on Indigenous peoples, and remember that #EveryChildMatters. Wear your orange to show that no one is forgotten.
With the changing leaves of fall comes harvest time, and we’ve been hard at work! Our fresh herbs will dry beautifully now that they’re all hung up from the rafters.
Some four legged critters have been awfully busy out at our Fort Normandeau rifle pit! The bark on the logs has started disappearing... The most likely culprits are bucks, rubbing their antlers along the wood.
