A great reminder as we head into the next 2 weekends! From ASSA: Some food for thought, as we enter these two championship meets it is good to be aware that often at times we, along with our children can experience heightened emotions. Some of us will experience excitement while others may feel disappointment. Please be respectful of other feelings, while it is ok to celebrate remember we are also a team and as such need to be mindful of those that might need a little extr...a lifting up. If you have concerns, please consider that a 24 hr cooling off period is advisable. As the meet begins to unfold things can happen on the pool deck and in races that we can not begin to understand or may not even see, remember your vantage point is not the same and considered out of position. Give the coaches and officials the space to do their jobs and be respectful of those decisions. Our coaches are fantastic and will always consider the swimmer first and advocate for them as they see fit. As well, please allow the coaches to coach and do not contradict the instructions that the assigned coach on deck at the meet has given your swimmer. Please do not approach our coaching staff or session officials with any sort of photographic or video images of your child in a race that might be up for a dispute. Not only does it put further doubt on situations, it is also not permissible in any sense to be submitted as proof. For those parents not working on deck to please help out in camp where necessary or when asked, and above all refrain from making additional comments about not being required to fill a spot this meet. We strive ensure our entire clubs across the province are operating in a cohesive manner, and those kinds of things are upsetting to other volunteers. Just as a refresher and because this is a higher standard and more serious meet that some of you might have experienced this season here is a link to the code of ethics that all swimmers, parents, officials and coaches must follow: https://swimalberta.ca//code_of_conduct_and_ethics_approve Your coaches have done a fantastic job facilitating regional entries, and fingers crossed we see them all on the other side at provincials. Please be sure to read all regional and provincial information being sent your way
