What have you been doing now that the warmer weather has started to arrive? Your Fort St. John fire fighters have taken this opportunity to spend some quality time in our new training facility. The last two weeks have seen A Crew led by Captain Morgan, and B Crew led by Captain Ristau training hard and practising some critical skills inside the burn building.
With the warm weather this week, it is a good time to review the campfire guidelines for the City of Fort St. John residents.
Did you know that your City of Fort St John Fire Department has a new fire training centre? Our training facility is a three-story burn building featuring two burn rooms, confined spaces, forcible entry door and much more! The training area also features a number of natural gas props including car fire, dumpster fire and other simulators. This week C Crew led by Captain Tancock had the opportunity to be the first to train in the new facility. The two-day training session allowed our members to hone their fire suppression and hose-handling skills. We are very fortunate to have such an exceptional training facility allowing our members to train hard to provide outstanding service to our residents and visitors alike. Stay tuned as we share more pictures as the other three crews rotate through the training cycle over the next month!
Take time today to remember the sacrifices made by those who served to provide us the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you to all who currently serve and to those who previously served. You will not be forgotten!
The Fort St John Fire Department was doing some fire ground survival training today. This scenario involved using a Rapid Intervention Team to assist our firefighters to get out of an entanglement maze. Train as if your life depends on it!
Fire Prevention Week runs from October 4 to 10, 2020, and the Fort St. John Fire Department is serving up Fire Safety in the Kitchen! Together with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) - the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for more than 90 years - the campaign works to educate everyone about simple but meaningful actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. The Fort St John Firefighters took a moment of silence to respect those lives lost at 9/11. We will never forget.
