My personal email is [email protected] If you need prayer or need any assistance you can reach me though this information. We find ourselves today in a time which we could never expect. I just want to give you a devotional which I hope will bring inspiration and Encouragement and yes a challenge. I have learned many important steps to follow to become the person which God had designed for me to be. The first one was to open my heart and to receive the gift of God’s Son Jesus into my heart. I still remember the one and most lesson to take on my new journey. I Learned 1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray continually. First open your heart pray to invite Christ in and then pray continually. Any trouble you find yourself in or any confusion can all destroyed in prayer. Yes these are anxious times but just as God was in the beginning he is today. He is still the great I Am. He is the Everlasting Father. He is the Master of the wind. He knows every part of you even more then you could even understand. Most important He loves you. Give Him a chance and let Him work out His plans because He never fails. Once you open your heart you then will be able to claim the words to a song we sing. Because He lives I can face tomorrow because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know who holds the future life is worth the living just because He lives. Pray and receive all He offers to you today and your life will never be the same.

From Elmo King Ministry Unit Leader Good day to the folks in Fortune: The Corps is reopening! The first Sunday service will be Sunday Sept 27th 2020 at 11am.... There are a few things I need to mention in regards of the reopening: Because of social distancing you have to pre-register before coming to the service each week. You will have to call Marilyn Foote at 832-2769 or 832 4009 she will take your name. We will have to keep this record 14 days for contact purposes. The cut off time to pre-register will be Friday of each week at 12 noon so then the social distancing can be done. I would encourage you to pre-register early. You have to remain 6 feet apart as you enter the Corps plus you will have to be checked in at the door. We are suggesting you begin to arrive early so there is no line up at the door. We will be using the ramp area for entry into the building Because of social distancing all seats will be assigned. You will be given a place to set by the greater. Mask wearing: You are to wear a mask until you are sitting in your assigned seat. Once everyone is seated and the meeting is ready to start you can remove your mask. There is to be no moving about at the Corps if so you have to put your mask on again. If you want to sing you also have to wear your mask. There is no singing without them only humming. The band will be 12 feet away from the congregation and they will be allowed to sing without the mask. For the collection and any offerings you are asked to drop this in a container which will be on the desk where you register. There will also be sanitizer to be used on your hands at the desk. There is to be no hand shaking or hugging. There is to be social distancing also in the parking lot where we are encouraged to keep from hugging and shaking hands. When the service is over we will release each row one at a time to remain with social distancing and you have to wear your mask at this time also. We look forward to seeing you there

From Elmo King All I can say is WOW WOW. To be able to have so many drive in services and have so many people drive by and become a part of them was a blessing. I thank you all and will be praying for you through the winter months. The people at the Corps was such a support and encouragment. I thank them all. I would like to express our thanks to the Town of Fortune who have allowed us to bring God's word to you within the Fortune Grand Bank area. It has been a wonderful summer and brought much joy during such changing times. June 26, 2020 To: Officers, Salvationists and Friends RE: CHURCH WORSHIP GATHERINGS Greetings from Divisional Headquarters! You may be aware that our Province has moved into Alert Level 2 effective June 25th. This level makes... provision for worship service gatherings but with significant restrictions. Our Divisional Policy Group has reviewed the guidelines provided by our Public Health Authority and quickly realized how difficult this would be to implement and manage. We have decided that we will not be opening our Corps buildings for inside worship services over the summer for the following reasons: -Congregational singing is not permitted, which is one of our key elements of worship -Limits around physical distancing prevent us from visiting and enjoying fellowship together -Attendance will need to be limited in order to follow physical distancing requirements -Significant challenges around managing the practical elements of gathering (sanitization of property, registering of attendees, etc.) It was the consensus of our Policy Group that the best option for The Salvation Army is to go the route of drive-in services for the summer months. Guidelines for drive-in services will be provided in the next days. While many will be disappointed that we are not gathering physically in our churches, we encourage all to continue taking advantage of online services and drive-in services as they are provided in your area. We thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to navigate these different days of living. Elmo King June 20th 2020: Treasures I had a day of reflection. I was thinking of all the many jobs I have had and how work is so important. Because of the many years of work I have a lot of different things which we were able to obtain. Now I realize how everything I have someday will mean nothing. I do not know what the future holds and the thing is we never know what the future will be. We make plans but yet there is no guarantee it will turn out the way we want it. I ha...ve good news because we can make investments today and receive the benefits later for ourselves after our physical death. That is our treasures in Heaven. 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18: Therefore we do not lose heart, though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Have you settled your relationship with God by accepting His Son Jesus as Saviour of your soul? The only lasting treasure you could ever have forever and ever is offered to you now. There may be no other time given to you to accept it. How often have you missed out on a super product you knew you needed and decide to think about it and then when you go back to purchase it, its gone. Tomorrow may never come that is why Salvation is offered now. Life is great but you need Jesus to receive the eternal treasures. 2 Corinthians 5: 1- 10: For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3.because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4. For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5. Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 6. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7. For we live by faith, not by sight. 8. Barbara asked if I would go but at first I said no and then decided I would. Well what a walk. It was not easy my legs hurt the rocks were rough at times but once on the top it all was worth it. Elmo King June 18th 2020 Boldness: Not sure that I would describe myself as being bold. I remember when working in Lloydminster Alberta one job I had was selling insurance. To make a sale it required me to be willing to approach people. This was hard for me to do. To live though and provide for my family I would just take courage and go meet people. I was very surprised because God sent blessings and the sales were great. Why mention this? I believe we need to be bold in our... witness for Jesus. It was necessary to make sales to provide but to be bold for Jesus is a way different motivation. I would hope they know Jesus because without Him they are without hope. To be bold for Jesus requires us to surrender even our personality to Him. This may scare some of us because some may not know the words to say or some may be shy. Jesus though takes our lives and teaches us and never puts things on us that we cannot bear. He becomes our helper. Psalm 138: 3: When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted. David knew who to ask for help. Jesus will answer us when we ask for boldness. Stouthearted this is a word I had to look up to find out what it meant; which is courageous or determined." Some of the synonyms are: brave courageous bold gallant fearless undaunted unafraid steadfast firm unswerving spunky. Jesus inspires me because I know without him I would be lost but because of Him I have a relationship with God the Father and my sins are forgiven. God puts people in our lives to be a witness. Boldness comes in many forms. Boldness for Jesus requires faith. Boldness for Jesus requires trust. Acts 4:29 now Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. This is the motivation: Acts 4: 12: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Song # 352 we sing: witnessing for Jesus, I am fully his: Fighting for his glory, standing by his cross. Song # 138 verse 4 we sing: ‘Twas on the cross thou didst redeem my soul from sin and dark despair; ‘Tis near the cross I would be seen, and welcome every sinner there. Be bold be strong Jesus is near. Go! Tell the whosoever because Jesus lives to redeem. See more

Elmo King June 17th 2020 God is able! There was a chorus I thought about several times today. Able to save, able to keep, yes my Lord is able. Giving me grace giving me power, Yes my Lord is able. He has turned the darkest night to day, that’s the reason I can say: He’s able to save, able to keep Is Christ my Saviour. Daniel 3:17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand O king. ... We all face different trials. It seems when one passes and life seems to be normal another one comes. I have heard of people who now because of the trial we are in they are facing depression and lowliness. Put your trust in Jesus he is able to carry us through. Faith in God can move a mighty mountain. I know you may feel the mountain you are facing is heavy but God is able to meet your need. God loves us and is aware off the mountain. You may even feel God is so far off and even forgot about you. Romans 8:39: Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our LORD. There are times when we become weak in our faith because of the situation we find ourselves in. Ephesians 3: 20: Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. You see when we accept Christ in our hearts he stays and supplies all we need. Give it all give it all to Jesus. He is able. For they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. See more

Elmo King June 16th 2020: Conviction Have you ever heard someone say don’t judge me. When young if I did anything wrong Mom and Dad would let me know in some form of punishment. When older I moved away from home. I now made my own choices and never had to worry if my parents knew about where I was or what I did. Now that I think about that time in life I ask the question where was conviction. I am not proud of the things I did or said. So why was I not under conviction? It wa...s like nothing mattered. But now I know because I have decided that I needed a change in life and now I have a deep desire within to serve Jesus. He has taken all my past sins and has forgiven me and sent them into the sea of forgetfulness never to remember them no more. So what was the reason I was not convicted. Will first I was living in sin. When living in sin we are dead. Romans 6:23: The wages of sin is death. I was dead spiritually and had no though about serving God. What sin did was take me away from Him. This meant my heart was not open to conviction. I was probably one of those who said don’t judge me. I am glad that I came under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and he drew me to Christ and then I came to the point I realized I was a sinner and ever since Jesus has been my strength to overcome sin. Are you willing to come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and admit to your sin? I have discovered conviction is a good thing to stay in a right relationship with Christ we need it. Psalm 139: Search me O God. He is searching. Show me. He is showing. We are all sinners. It’s not what people judge us on but we must listen to The Holy Spirit. Not Mom and Dad Sister or Brother who is our judge or will be our judge. Dare we say God don’t judge me. Make the last part of Psalm 139 your prayer. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord to the Cross where thou dist die. My encouragement is pay attention to the conviction from the Holy Spirit he’s helping you to be who you should be. See more

Elmo King June 15th 2020: Blame How often we place blame on someone for our own sins? Like I have heard it said he made me do it or he started it. What about when things don’t go the way we like it and we blame God. It seems that God gets a lot of undeserved blame. When sitting in a home you see a young boy walk across the room and someone passes him a bottle of beer and he sips from the bottle. When this young boy grows up he becomes a heavy drinker. Who is the blame? When ...at Church there is a young person roaming around and when you get home you complain about the noise they made and how you did not enjoy the service. Who is the blame? It is always easy to lay blame when the person you blame is not even around to defend themselves. I wonder why it is so easy or why do we blame people for things we may never even see them do. There are sometimes when blame is not wrong. Like when someone at home is being abused and beaten I would not blame them for leaving. When we are taken advantage off by someone and we then have no money or even have food to eat. Here it is Genesis 3:1: Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the women. It is important to understand blame began when sin entered the heart of mankind. Sin became the enemy of the soul. Now we also need to remember we are given a free will to choose for ourselves what rules to follow. Sin in the heart of each one will cause strife for others. I would not suggest it is wrong to lay blame at times but recognize sin is at the root of any evil. We cannot always say the devil made me do it. It goes without reason we may choose to go in a wrong direction but we are given a different way at the time. So is the topic blame we need to worry about or should we not confront sin. I do not agree with anything that stems from sin. Sin is the blame for all wrong doing. Sin is what separates us from God. The devil is the instigator of all sin but we can choose to not listen. When he speaks he lies. He will want you to blame whoever but he does not want you to recognize sin. This is from the Old Testament but they are important words to read. 1 Kings 8: 46: When they sin against you --- for there is no one who does not sinand you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captives. Sin takes us captive. Recognize sin but just don’t let it master your soul and lead you in a path of unforgiveness. Pray hard when you are upset over what someone has done to hurt you so the enemy can’t take you into a heart of blame. It is wrong when someone sins against you but I will say there is victory in Jesus over all sin. Give your life over to the Lord and because He Lives in us we become over comers and we live a life of rejoicing rather than a life of sin and blame. Let the Lord have His way in your life every day there is no rest there is no peace until the Lord has His way. See more
