And just like that 2020 has come to an end. With the new year, we often set resolutions for ourselves. These resolutions can be however big or small, but should be personalized to YOU! I like having 3 resolutions for myself (this number is realistic and therefore more likely to complete). Here are my resolutions: Drink more water Practice more deep breathing (diaphragmatic breathing)... Go for more walks Did you know if you say your resolutions out loud or write them down you’re more likely to complete them? What are your new year resolutions? Write them in the comments! #athletictherapy #physiotherapy #osteopathy #massagetherapy #winnipegtherapy #fortwhyte #rehabilitation #newyear

With the weather getting colder and our current health restrictions it can be difficult to stay active. But did you know that reducing sedentary time is linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular health, it’s good for bone health, reducing joint stiffness and it can be great for your mental health too! So bundle up and get outside for a walk, or do some form of physical activity inside. If you have any questions ask our Physiotherapists Athletic Therapist or Osteopath on your next visit! #fortwhytephysiotherapy #stayactive #yesyoucan #winterwonderland

Milestone Minutes: Kneeling Kneeling is a great skill to practice with your baby! This position leads to the ability to crawl and stand. tip... Removing 2 of the 4 legs of an activity table and resting it on an angle is a nice way to encourage your baby to kneel. You can also lay a couch cushion on the floor and place an interesting toy on the cushion. Structure your babies knees on the floor in front of the cushion and then their elbows up onto the cushion (as in photo with ) This position can take some getting used to as its likely the first exposure to weight bearing through the knees. Short duration regular exposures to kneeling will increase strength and tolerance to this important position. As always if you have any concerns about your babies development please reach out to our pediatric physiotherapist Kendra, she would be happy to help. Also wasn’t baby Eve just the cutest little babe. #pediatricphysiotherapy #fortwhytephysiotherapy #winnipegphysiotherapy #practicingmilestones

Did You Know? The word Osteopathy has ancient Greek origins; merging the two words osteo which means bone, and pathy meaning suffering. Osteopathy is unique and effective in that it aims to treat the body as a whole. Osteopaths such as our own, Bal, a new member at our clinic, look at bones, muscles, organs, and interrelated systems of the body to treat patients. If Osteopathy is of interest to you, call or email our clinic to book an appointment today! #winnipegosteopathy #fortwhytephysiotherapy #osteopathy #aligningallsystems

With all of our gyms closed, it’s a great time to find ways to work out at home! It would be great to get outside and enjoy our nice fall weather too- you could get outside for a walk or run to enjoy the fresh air! If you want to stay inside, push-ups would be a great exercise to add to your circuit, you don’t even need equipment to start this one! Or you can always try an IPC home workout #athomeworkouts #fitnessforlife #fortwhytephysiotherapy

Many people are working from home right now, including most University and many high school students. For many, the transition to sitting at a computer all day is new, and can be difficult to get used to. As you’re working or learning, don’t forget to take care of yourself! Take breaks to step away from the computer, go for a walk, and try to do some stretching. If your noticing stretching isn’t cutting it anymore it may be time to make an appointment with one of our athletic therapists, physiotherapists or massage therapist!
