Sorry (not sorry) for being a little absent around these parts lately. Wedding season ended with a bang and all the editing. I shot a ton of family and engagement sessions while we had those beautiful autumn leaves. For this engagement session we were supposed to go to the Boathouse for a beer and then wander around Victoria Park. When we got there we found out that the boathouse was closed so we ditched our original plans and decided to head to @arabellaparkbar (my fave place to grab a beer in KW) instead. We had some beers and then went for a walk along the Iron Horse tail and through @belmontvillagekw I live about a 5 min walk from Belmont Village and I absolutely loved get...ting to shoot and explore my own neighbourhood. My favourite photos are usually accidental candids like this one. There are so many imperfect things about this photo... The flowers still in the vase, Mark holding Emily’s heels, Emily wearing her black flip flops instead of her pretty heels and the fact I might not have centred them perfectly in this window. Despite the minor imperfections this is one of my favourite photos of these two from this day and a top fave of all time.... I love that they were just naturally standing there, looking at each other like that and I was able to put myself in the right place at the right time (I was totally spying).

This GORGEOUS little cousin of mine gave birth to a perfect little angel last week and I am SO proud of her! Wedding days can be like taking a ride on an emotional roller coaster. One of my favourite people to watch take that ride are the dads. Dads tend to be full of excitement and emotions at weddings. A few years ago I shot a wedding where I ended up meeting a wonderfully incredible man who would later become my partner. The groom was a friend of mine so I decided to stay after I was done shooting to have a drink with some friends. ... Kyle and I ended up chatting and at some point a friend took a polaroid photo of us. 3 years later and that photo is now in a frame, on the fridge in the home that we share together. I am now a firm believer that every wedding should have at least one polaroid or disposable camera. Just think of all the love stories that are waiting to be captured! Also, There is nothing like getting some candid shots through the drunken eyes of your guests. See more

I first photographed Kyle at the reception of a beautiful wedding I shot in the fall of 2017. He was dressed in a silver suit, had a fresh haircut, wore diamond studded grillz and was a powerful force on the dance floor! He was not afraid to bust some serious moves and got everyone up to party. It was impossible not to take a ton of photos of him. Less than 8 months ago I got the privilege of shooting a wedding in Jamaica in which Kyle was a member of the bridal party. A co...uple days after this wedding I found out that Kyle was battling cancer. Over the past few days I have been seeing a lot of the photos Iv taken of Kyle on my social media as his friends and family mourn his passing. It breaks my heart to know his battle has ended but I feel so honoured that I was able to document him at his happiest, dancing and celebrating with the people he loved. I hope these photos provide some comfort for his loved ones and that they take solace in being able to continue to see his smile. As a photographer it’s my job to document people and moments but often we don’t realize how important those photos are until we lose the people in them. RIP Kyle #fuckcancer @ Kitchener, Ontario

One of my most favourite parts of coming home from vacation is being reunited with my dog, Zoey. She is my fur child and I miss her like crazy while I am away. As soon as she sees me she gets crazy excited, jumps all over me and gives me hugs. Best feeling ever! This is why we love dogs so much, right!? I personally think a big part of being a wedding photographer means having to be super adaptable to an array of situations. One of the most prevalent situations being light. From harsh mid day sunlight that blinds us to dimly lit spaces where we only have the help of our flash assist beam to guide our way. We have to be constantly taking into account where the sun is in the sky, where shadows and contrast are being created, how low the ceiling is or which beam to stand close ...to in order to bounce our flash successfully. Sometimes one step could mean a totally new light situation to figure out with haste as to not miss any important moments. Let be honest here, we’re humans and sometimes we don’t get it perfect in camera. Seeing as we live and work with modern technology it’s also important for us to know how to correct, what I like to call, oopsie lighting in post. Often a blown out or under exposed image can still be saved with the help of our loyal BFF, Lightroom. Swipe to see the oopsie before to this after. See more

I just had a convo in a FB group about photographers attaching too much emotion to the reception of their delivered photos. The person I was going back and forth with said we should take emotion out of the equation because it’s a business. I had to disagree with them on that... ~ I see myself as a photographer first and a business second. I started taking photos because that’s what I LOVE to do. I started my business because I wanted to do what I love and build a career in a...n industry that I admire and want to succeed in. To me, this is more than a business, it’s my life. Yes i love being an entrepreneur. Yes it’s how I pay my bills and without it I’d probably be stuck working a job that wasn’t overly satisfying but it’s also the part of my life that I pour my heart and soul into. It makes me happy, confident, prideful and full of love on a daily basis. Being trusted to document the most important moments in your life means the world to me! ~ The photos I create for you will be full of smiles, love, hugs, tears and cheers and I find it hard to not get emotionally attached to those emotions. ~ Everyone is subjective and conducts their businesses in different ways which I respect to the moon and back!
