FACE Foundation for African Children Education 01.06.2021

*F.A.C.E. Covid-19 Update* Hello everyone, like many of you we are disappointed with the effects that this pandemic has created. Earlier this month our Vancouver-based F.A.C.E. team made the appropriate decision to cancel our 2020 FACE tour to Accra, Ghana in order to ensure the safety and deliverance of everyone involved. Similar to the rest of the world, we sit tight daily awaiting further direction from health officials, domestically and overseas, regarding protocols. F.A.C.E. remains appreciative and faithful to our mission, when the appropriate time comes. For now, we very much hope that all of you are keeping well and thoughtfully doing your part in flatting the curve. Best wishes,

FACE is proud to highlight our strong women on International Women’s Day today. Beverley Piprah was a champion of FACE and had travelled to rural Ghana for nearly every mission with our Vancouver-based team. She embodied the infrastructure of this charity: empathy, courage and hope. She has been dedicated to improving the lives of those less fortunate for decades and instrumental in the creation of FACE. In Sept 2019 the world lost an amazing woman in Beverley Piprah who los...t a hard-fought battle with cancer. We believe her dynamic & passionate spirit lives on with us and celebrate her today on International Women's Day. Eva Ayamba is a Headmistress at a school in Ejura, Ghana. We have sponsored children at Eva’s school for 12 years. Eva has been instrumental in supporting students and helping to identify those who are most in need. Eva works with the local community and helps us give back to the local economy. Eva is a strong and dedicated Headmistress. She is a single mother and has one child. Suzanne Eyers was a fierce and inspiring volunteer with FACE. She dedicated 12 years with FACE and was connected to all her sponsored students and volunteers in Ejura. Suzanne would travel to Ejura each year and meet with the families of our sponsored students. She was well respected in Ejura and known as Nana Suzanne. Suzanne received the Rotary International Women’s Award in 2015 and the Paul Harris Fellow in 2019 for her work with FACE. She accepted each award on behalf of the children she supported. We lost Suzanne to cancer in October 2019. While we will never fill her shoes, we work to support Ejura with the ‘Suzanne spirit’. Vida Konwie was a former student sponsored by FACE. Vida was a diligent student and went on to graduate from Grade 12. She received her Certificate in Complementary Healthcare in 2018 and specializes in herbal medicines. Vida is grateful for the support of FACE and allowing her to receive an education. #internationalwomensday #foundationforafricanchildrenseducation #ghana #africa #amazingwomen

Come with us | Volunteer in Africa If you’re one of the many good-willed persons with aspirations to visit and volunteer in Africa but don’t know how to go about it; well, we can give you a chance to do just that. Each year F.A.C.E. has a number of ambitious volunteers who join our campaign to rural Ghana and the feedback has always been overwhelmingly positive. Even better are those who are sponsors. This is an opportunity to visit and meet with their sponsored wards. ... Hopefully, we have given you enough food for thought to consider a trip that could be life-changing for you. Our next trip is on the 20th of March 2020 to the end of March. We can provide you with references so you can talk to over 15 past volunteers from Canada.
