Title: Study in Red, Venice - Italy Four elements at play in this monochromatic (red) coloured image. 1. The textured plaster and brick wall as a base element 2. The window itself 3. The brick arch above the window and, 4. The lintel above the arch. The monochrome quality of this image calls for tight composition and I have paid careful attention to this. Spacing is equal side to side and top to bottom and the window sits nicely in the lower third. Some might look at this image and see it as a static composition but I find it balances nicely. #travelphotography #colorphotography #fineartphotography

Title: Cathedral, Side Entrance, Venice - Italy Texture, texture, texture! Today’s post is best presented in black and white. The original capture was soft pastels (reds, browns and beiges) which looked nice but I felt that black and white best presented this image the way I wanted. There are two components to this image which are separated by the column to the left of the centre window. The exposed brick patch on the left crosses over the column and leads the eye to the windows and door which, in my mind, are the main focal point of the image. #travelphotography #colorphotography #fineartphotography

Title: Mooring Post and Window#2, Venice - Italy In my mind music and photography go hand-in-hand. It was about 5:30am and I remember I was listening to the Flying Burrito Brothers when composing this shot. I love the monochromatic earthiness of this image and the rough textures of the exposed brick. The wine bottle in the lower left of the window is a strong visual element in the composition.
