I feel compelled to talk about a topic that has been weighing on my heart. I felt hesitant to talk about it at first and I think that’s partially part of the problem, we just don’t talk about the experience of being a women in business and the MANY challenges that come with that. One of those challenges is balancing being a partner and a mother while trying to run a successful business! As we draw closer to welcoming our first beautiful baby into the world, I’m faced wi...th many uncertainties. What will I do without the option of maternity leave? Will I be able to handle running my business while also caring for a newborn? How much time should I take off? How will I have to change the way I do things? All of these questions are swirling through my mind and yet I’m comforted by knowing I’m not the only #momprenuer who feels this way. What does it mean to be resourceful? Well, by definition it means the ability to find a way to overcome difficulties. In my opinion, this is probably the most important quality that entrepreneurs can possess. It’s that it factor that I look for when hiring and making connections. When I meet someone who can admit they don’t know everything and that they have so much to learn, it’s so refreshing! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE what I do! I feel grateful everyday that I work from home, make my own schedule and get to pour myself into creating my dream life. However, I have to say that being a business owner and particularly a Social Media Manager, is often completely misunderstood. There are many people out there who think Social Media Managers sit at home and look at reels all day, scroll on our phones and stay in our pjs. I’ve had many people minimize how much work I’v...e put in, like this is just my hobby. Although I’ll admit I do wear comfy clothes a lot, I can confidently say many of us are tired and emotionally exhausted. I’m sending love to all my fellow industry peers because I know right now, we are pushing harder than ever to get results for our clients because to be honest, many need these results to survive. We feel the immense pressure of a world that is becoming completely digitized and the sheer amount of information we are consuming can be difficult to manage. We also work evenings, weekends and feel the need to disconnect every now and again. To summarize, I just want to say I see you to all my fellow Social Media peeps and I know it’s hard. Don’t forget to prioritize your own mental health and happiness because you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Our goal on social media is to consistently provide some value to our followers and I think that value extends beyond just sharing social media related information. A few weeks ago, I read about something that really resonated with me and I felt compelled to share it today! I’ve had many friends and family members vent to me about business related issues and for a long time, I always offered them my advice. I used to become so frustrated that they didn’t seem to listen to me...! However, after reading an article on this exact issue, I realized I was assuming they wanted a solution when in fact, it’s possible they just wanted me to listen to them. Perhaps when someone approaches us with a problem it’s worth asking them, are you coming to me so I can listen or so I can help you problem solve?. This very simple question can avoid many issues and can make you a better communicator! I’m only 28 but this journey I’m on has led me to uncover some great nuggets of wisdom like this. I love sharing things like this because personal growth and development is a process that really never ends.

My whole life, I haven’t felt like enough. Part of me loves how much drive I have but part of me also worries for myself. The constant pressure of being an entrepreneur and pushing for more can be exhausting. I remember talking to a friend about how far my business has come in such a short time and she said have you had a chance to celebrate your achievements?. This ROCKED me and I realized I really hadn’t. That night I went out with friends and family and ate tacos and drank margaritas! At the end of the day, being a business owner is really difficult but I hope we all take more time to reflect on our triumphs, failures and growth!

Where are our organization fanatics? As our business expands, we have come to value organization tools very highly. We recently started using the Priority Planner from @msrachelhollis and are HUGE fans! Although we love digital calendars and still use them, there is just something about writing down your goals and tasks that is so satisfying! What’s your favourite way to stay organized?
