Ted is an 8 year old Vizsla (a friend of my Vizsla Kayjin) who has recently had a suspected thoracic disk herniation with some hind end paralysis. He is going for a CT scan tomorrow so we will have more information soon. In the meantime Ted is getting daily laser (#spectravet) acupuncture & some traction (tail pulls). Keep posted for updates on Ted as he goes through his rehab. Roxanne Ronan Peter Andrew Jenkins

I know that the Eastern Diamond Back rattlesnake is far more aggressive & venomous than the rattlesnakes in the Okanagan but they can cause some of the same outcomes & even death. Have a read of Argo the Vizsla’s experience with a rattlesnake bite to the neck last November. In speaking with Argo’s owners, they say he has completely recovered & had no residual effects. They feel that they were lucky in that Argo was given the antivenin within the 4 hour window after the bite. https://www.argothevizsla.com/blogs/rattlesnake-bite/

This young lab (16 months) was referred for Physiotherapy with a veterinary diagnosis of grade 1 Luxating Patella on the right. Unfortunately, it became clear when I assessed this sweet girl that she had way more going on then her vet diagnosis indicated. She was referred back to the Vet for a referral to see a surgeon. She is now on the waitlist for TPLO surgery as a result of bilateral cruciate tears in her stifles (knees).... I wanted to highlight the importance of PT & other animal healthcare practitioners in the care of our beloved pets. Sometimes it takes a village to care for 4 legged friends. We as Physios are part of that village. Please consider joining the BC Animal Owners Association so that you have a choice & Physios can continue to be part of the care of your fur babies.
