Everyone is going through something, everyone has "stuff", most people are tired or somewhat stressed. This year has shown me more than ever, be as kind as you can. Some days are harder to be than others but hopefully your surrounded by people who feel the same way. Don't stress the small stuff, lift and lead forward!! Well that's how I felt watching our handsome friend zookie this am. Keep in mind the kids are not awake yet so check back about this post and my thoughts at 4 pm today...
Hey, get off my lawn!
Happy "live your dream" move in day Cathy Kenzie. No one will use the heck out of every inch of that property like you and your family! So well deserved. Congratulations

So I thought I'd pass along this little tid bit, today I had the vet out to check Bailey for a sore front hoof. While here I had them check out her swollen teats. Turns out this is a symptom of cushings! We can't confirm until her hoof has healed but we will run blood tests to see where she is at. She is actually producing milk!!!!!!! interesting eh? I love leaning this type of thing. Do you have a interesting fact? Share below!

Hey everyone! As COVID-19 restrictions have continued to lift, it's been great to see so many familiar faces, and some new ones to boot! It is so exciting to be... able to have lessons again, and begin to get back to that sense of "normal". However, it is still SO important that we continue to keep each other and our communities safe! On that note, I'd like to reiterate just how important it is that everyone continue to physically distance while at the barn, and follow the rules set out in our re-opening plan. I know this can be difficult, especially as our lives start to feel like they're getting back to normal, but it is imperative that we all take responsibility and keep each other safe! Here are some quick pointers to rememer: 1. Bring a helmet! (They cant be safely sanitized between rides, so my loaner helmets have been removed from the barn). 2. Maintain 6ft from others while at the barn and during your lesson (while we all have different comfort levels during this pandemic, your instructor's comfort level is that you remain 6ft away at all times. This is really important to me, so please respect that boundary!) 3. No extra visitors. (I know we all want to bring our friends and family out to watch us ride, but each extra person on the property makes physical distancing that much harder). Were not out of the woods yet, so I appreciate your patience and understanding! -Aidan and the herd
Copied and pasted from Masako Evans It’s summer! So, how about them road apples? Reasons why horse poop is deposited on the roads:... 1) Horses, given their size, produce a large quantity of poop. 2) There are collection bags, but these work better on carriages, which help support the weight of the poop. Depending on the length of a ride, the weight and straps may cause discomfort. On a riding horse, it may not be accustomed to normally wearing them, which can cause increased anxiety for a horse on the road, which is a greater danger for the horse, rider, and other road users. 3) Horse poop is not considered a danger like dog, cat and human feces as it does not contain parasites that are harmful to humans. 4) It breaks down easily. A day of rain or even a few days of sunshine is enough to rapidly decompose a pile of manure. 5) It makes great fertilizer. Seriously! Consider it a gift straight from the horses ahh... ummm... rear end. It breaks down rapidly and provides great nutrients for the soil and plants. People routinely ask to come onto horse property to collect manure for their gardens. So if it’s deposited in front or close to your home, get it before your neighbors do! 6) Horses were the main source of transportation before vehicles became the norm. It was never expected that people pick up the horse droppings, and that has continued today. Especially as we are farming community! Urban sprawl means that farming, animals and people are in closer proximity. So, if you come across some road apples, don’t get angry. Remember that we are a farming community, and that these magnificent animals once provided us with much more than a hobby or sport, and the poop won’t be on the road for long. *Editing to add: Summer horse safety! If you see a horse and rider on the road, please slow down, and wide and slow when it is safe to do so! Do not speed, honk or yell at a horse and rider. We all share this lovely community and want all to be safe!
It's been 15+years of short term relationships, but I think I finally found a keeper.
Spring clean up is on! Although we typically use our old ride on lawn mower to harrow we went for a bit of a "fancier red neck" Approach today! Thank you to Freestyle Horsemanship for the help! By using the different types of harrows we hope to keep the footing working well for our horses hooves.
Saw these brave crows taking on this guy Saturday while bringing in my girls from the field before the
Our phase 2 includes a handful of leasers returning under strick guidelines and 2-3 lessons resuming, many lessons with pre existing attendees of the barn. We are still not open to visitors and it sounds as though we won't be for a while. If you have something that needs repairs and is not urgent we can discuss having help down after June 1. Thanks everyone! Please continue to sanitize surfaces, wash hands and please don't visit if your feeling sick or have seen someone who is.

Effective immediately, only essential care givers are to be visiting the barn. All lessons have been suspended and tiny tales volunteers have been reduced to a max of 2 volunteers at a time. Please provide your own work tools going forward and put them away in a safe place. Wipes are now available at the barn so please wipe down all surfaces you may touch. I'll be leaving the gate open during the regular barn hours of 8-4pm to avoid contact. If it is preferred I can hang up w...Continue reading
