Our cabbages at ZamCan Farms are ready for harvest this week. First since we launched our major expansion in vegetable production.
Derek Hoogstra with our internal auditor Anshell making a site visit. The pavers they are walking on are produced by our company Diligence Brick & Block.
Derek is in Zambia to inspect the progress at ZamCan farms. The cabbages are growing very well and the first commercial-scale batches will be ready for market within a week. We are really happy to be able to supply a substantial amount of fresh local vegetables into a market that is suffering due to the drought in areas to the South that normally supply a lot of vegetables at this time of the year.
We have been ramping up cabbage production at ZamCan as we move well into dry season. Local shortages due to the lack of Zambian growers that use irrigation to grow at this time of year has been exacerbated by a serious drought in South Africa which has put a near stop to imports from there. Hoping to continue to increase each month until the end of 2016.
