Putting together a gift basket of Fragrant Melody products(toner, scrub and face cream) yes I have posted this twice now as I put it on the wrong timeline.

Yesterday, I participated in my last Herbal Field Study class taught by Michael Vertolli. They are always interesting and I can't wait for next year! I learned how to make a tincture out of elecampane root and bought a pair of cozy alpaca socks from a participant. All in all a good day.

This afternoon, I had to make a face cream for a client and decided I would share the steps and recipe. Step 1- fill the jars with 99% isopropyl alcohol to sterilize the jars. I let them sit for about 20 min. Step 2- melt .65 oz of emulsifying wax over the lowest heat possible. Once the wax is melted I add my vegetable oil mixture until it has melted in. Do not overheat as this will burn and denature the oil. Step 3- while the wax is melting, I boil my distilled water. Once ...the oil mixture is ready, I add the Vit C and manuka honey to the hot water mixture and mix until dissolved. Step 4- add the oil mixture to mixing bowl and begin to blend on low setting. Gradually add the hot water mixture. Once this is added, I then add my hydrosol, and borage oil. Then I add the Vit E and grape seed extract. The ver last ingredient I add are the essential oils. Step 5-once the cream has begun to thicken, I scoop it into the sterilized jars. I let it sit for 24 hours in a cool dark place to let it set. INGREDIENTS FOR NIGHT CREAM 25 ml -avocado oil 15 ml -jojoba oil 10 ml-carrot oil 5 ml- borage oil 5ml rosehip oil 90 ml -distilled water 20 ml-lavender hydrosol 1/2 tsp-Vit C 1 tsp-manuka honey .65 oz-emulsifying wax 5dr Vit E 1/8 th tsp grape seed extract 30-40 drops of essential oil Makes 4 40 ml jars of cream
