5 years ago today I was doing this photoshoot with @incura in Vancouver. It was my first photography job where I was flown across the country to do it, and I was given complete creative freedom to do it. I distressed and made those outfits for the boys, and we shot this at an abandoned insane asylum, one of the most haunted places in BC. The boys have finally released this photo, serendipitously today for a new song... I’ve been waiting 5 years for everyone to see this photoshoot, so glad it’s finally out there. Happy Birthday Skye Sweetnam!!!! We’ve had so many adventures together in the 15 years we’ve known each other, and many awesome birthdays... I’ll still never forget the time I threw you a surprise party in the dark restaurant where we were served by the blind. This year may be different because it’s a pandemic, but don’t think I still don’t have some great things planned... even if I can’t buy you dinner for who knows how long. I hope today treats you the best, because you deserve it. I love you tons and miss you, but soon we’ll be back to those hang outs, photoshoots, venues and hair whipping action. As it may be awhile before I get to shoot with bands again... I think I’m going to have to try doing some self portraits. I usually hate doing them because it’s hard to see how the light looks on yourself in the moment, so a lot more adjusting than you’d do with a subject, and then to see the framing... and then of course I’m a harsh critic of myself. Usually ends up being a not fun experience... but I want to create, and to be honest, I don’t want to get rusty at my photography work.
