No matter how great you become. Never forget how you started! I’ll never forget my first computer i ever had. The Adam/coleco system. It was my old mans system then he handed it down to me and I was amazed at all it could do! The system itself runs on an OS called turtle talk and all the instructions on how to use its commands. It’ll tell you if it doesn’t understand lol. The system runs on both cassette tape and cartridge for games and software. I have photos of them all in...cluding kitchen recipe lol. This was the very first system that blew me away. The systems power supply is located in the printer and the printer is like an automatic typewriter equipped with ribbon and spinning letter and numbers. The printer had the ability to shake all over your stuff off the shelves as it shook from left to right knocking everything over. One day I was in a second hand store and notice one like mine the Adam/coleco system. I decided to purchase it for $9.99 back then. I took it home trying to figure out what to do with it. It dawned on me that it had the cassette bay. I thought hmm maybe I can take this cassette part out of here and add it to my current system. Thinking hmm maybe I can rewind one cassette while I play the other, boy was I wrong lol. One side ate one of the tapes ohhh nooo!!! I thought I unplugged the whole system and removed the tape to fix it. This was my very first system I’ve ever upgraded even tho it didn’t work the way I thought it would My curiosity never stopped there. I went on to bigger systems next with the 386, 486 then a Pentium 1 with a voodoo 3D card etc. I didn’t work on those systems but I looked inside everyone of them curious at what the parts did but I didn’t dare touch them. It wasn’t until I was a little older I decided that I felt comfortable enough to work on my own computers. At that time we didn’t have google or anything like that. We had figure it out on our own by process of elimination. I believe that helped formed me into the system builder and technician I am today. I don’t accept anything but perfection to my standards and I set pretty high standards for myself to begin with. Looking back at this Adam/Coleco system it always reminds me of where I started and I’ll never forget. Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed a little piece of history. We have more stories in store for you all down the road. Get it Frankensteined!!
