Happy Canada Day Jazz fans! This Canada Day has a bit of a different mood, almost as if its being played in C Minor instead of C Major. But that doesnt mean we cant enjoy it; many amazing tunes have been composed in the key of C Minor! So wear something red today, get outside, and give thanks that we live in this amazing country and all that it is doing for us during these trying times. Featuring @sarahsingsjazz, Jesse Cahill & Brad Shigeta performance awhile back Sarah Kennedy is a Canadian vocalist. She sings straight-ahead jazz with polished elegance and smooth sultry voice. She has been delighting audiences with her performance since 2007. Jesse Cahill started playing drums at a young age and worked his first professional gigs at 16 in restaurants and clubs in his hometown of Victoria. There is nothing he loves more than making music with people for pe...ople. Brad Shigeta is a master trombonist and VSO School of Music educator. He has been a professional musician for almost four decades and has toured around the world with Duke Ellington Orchestra and many more.

She started singing professionally since she was twelve and recorded her first jazz and classic pop album "Sapphire Birds" when she was thirteen. Today would have been jazz legend Harold Maberns 84 birthday. He was a pianist beloved for his soulfulness and power at the keyboard and he will be most fondly remembered for infusing his music with the spirit of blues. We were lucky enough to have him grace Frankies stage on several occasions in the last few years.
