Sometimes self-care can be confused with self-indulgence. COVID-19 UPDATE: British Columbia has introduced sweeping new public health restrictions in a 3 week "circuit breaker". Please take a look at the new implementations: - Indoor dining has been suspended in all restaurants. Restaurants with patios will remain open for patio dining. - Takeout and delivery services are still available. - Patio dining should only be with immediate household or core bubble. ... - The previous messaging allowing indoor religious gatherings and worship services between March 28 and May 13 is suspended. - Indoor, adult group fitness activities of any kind are paused. Gyms and fitness centres are restricted to individual or one-on-one activities. - Public health guidance for schools has also been amended and now encourages students down to Grade 4 to wear masks while at school. - Safe gatherings of up to 10 people remain possible if you are with your immediate household or the same 10 people in your core bubble. Would you describe yourself as creative? So much of the time, there's a pressure that comes with being creative. We're taught that creativity is something you have or you don't; it comes easily or not at all. This actually isn't the case. People are not born creative or not; humans are, inherently, creative. This creativity can come out in different ways; for some, it is expressed through art, like drawing or dancing. For others, it might be expressed through creative problem... solving, leadership, or strategy. Creativity is something that can be practiced. The more you practice, the stronger your creativity muscles get, and the easier you'll be able to 'flex' them when needed. Our #studentsuccesstip this week encourages you to practice unleashing your creativity. There are endless ideas for how to get started, but here are a few: - colouring books - puzzles - journaling - bedroom dance party - online painting tutorial - photographing fall foliage How will you practice unleashing your creativity this week? The session will be facilitated by Nadina Dodd and Paola Quiros. Nadina is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Art Therapist working as a Case Manager and leading the Wellness Office at Fraser International College which is a partner of SFU. She provides counselling and case management support exclusively to international students and loves using creative and expressive means of self-exploration, growth and discovery. She strives to work in a strengths-based, relational and ...culturally responsive way with her student-clients. Paola is the Educator of the Sexual Violence Support and Prevention office, and the co-creator of ARThrive, an initiative that born at the SFSS Women's Centre. Whether you need to narrow down your essay topic or solve that complicated math question, your FIC instructors are here to help. They're also just super awesome humans - even if you don't have a question, I recommend dropping in to say hi! You never know where the connection might lead; maybe they'll be a reference, or have a cool insight into the type of career you want....
