We were honoured to receive the Goodspark Small Business Grant, part of a Desjardins Insurance program to support businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic. The ...grant allowed us to hire new team member Godfroi, and to continue helping local businesses get their products to market. Chef/Owner Leanne was joined at the acceptance ceremony by team members Yusuf, Kentar, Godfroi and Tefsom. Chef Leanne will be mentoring Yusuf in growing his company, African Fusion Catering. Kentar came to Canada 5 years ago and didn’t speak a lick of English. After working for Chef Leanne for 4 years, he is now about to open his own Syrian catering company with her continued mentorship. And with our kitchen soon becoming CLASS-5, small businesses owners will be able to prep their products here for sale at local grocery stores. Thank you to Kevin Burke Desjardins Insurance Agent for nominating us! We are grateful to Desjardins Insurance, our amazing clients who have supported us through this difficult time, and our hardworking staff. We will help each other and get through this together. We continue with our #AsianHeritageMonth celebrations! Today we feature Samia Sharmin Momo and Sunehra Karim, two Bangladeshi students who attend St. Thomas Uni...versity and the University of New Brunswick respectively. The name of the song is "Megher Palok Chader Nolok," by Shreya Ghoshal, and the students performed the dance at St. Thomas University's 2019 Multicultural Fair. Here are some words from Momo about the performance: "This is a beautiful western remake of a very famous classical piece. We tried to portray the graceful vibe through the classical moves. In this song, the singer is basically talking about herself and how she's feeling on a cloudy night with a big moon on the sky." Such a beautiful performance!
