Kailey Smith (11)! Youre our next featured artist in our countdown to the Art Justice Project! . Youth Rights proved to be a popular topic in Ms. Theriaults art class at Devon Middle! Kaileys piece shows that, with her bold message and happy nature scene. Wed also like to note that she chose to paint a sunny scene to help people feel happy. . She also shared some inspiring thoughts about young people & access to justice. Kailey told us that she was intere...sted in donating her artwork to the Art Justice Project so kids know they have their own rights. Similarly, she also told us that she felt she had a role to play in promoting access to justice. To Kailey, access to justice means that (she) can help kids understand that we have rights in the world. Way to go, Kailey! Thank you for your donation and hard work! See more

Next up in our Meet the Artist series is Gracelyn (11) & Ewan (11), also from Devon Middle School! Both artists decided to feature a strong message in their work, with Gracelyn opting for a more abstract piece, and Ewan going for symbolism & speckling. These talented artists had some passionate words for us regarding their involvement in the Art Justice Project. We asked Gracelyn why she was interested in donating her artwork to the Art Justice Project, to which she replied it could help change peoples lives. Ewan, when asked what access to justice means to him, told us that we have a right to a lawyer, but some people cant (get one). We think that both artists hit the nail on the head! Thanks to Gracelyn and Ewan for their donations - We appreciate you and your hard work!

Were proud to introduce our Meet the Artist photo series! For those of us organizing the event, one of the most rewarding parts has been working with and educating our talented student artists. So, we wanted to give you a chance to learn a little about them before seeing their work in person at next Wednesdays event. First up: Dylan Frier (11), from Devon Middle School! Dylan told us that when he was designing his piece, (he) was thinking about sunrise, so instead of ...the sun, I put a peace symbol to represent peace rising. He was interested in donating his artwork to the Art Justice Project because he wanted to show people that art represents something, and when asked what access to justice means to him, Dylan succinctly summed it up by saying it means that people need access to help. Thank you for your donation Dylan - We appreciate you and your hard work! See more
