Freedom Recreation 09.06.2021

Spent a few hours a couple weeks ago checking out @diystudiotbay with one of my clients. Nothing more relaxing than sitting down with some paint and a project. Hope to go back again once things open back up!

Wow, this video is from 4 years ago but it seems just like yesterday. I certainly miss this gentleman but I am happy he did not have to go through the last 5 months. I thought we should start a traveling band but he thought I was crazy. I have lost some important people over the months that COVID has forced me to shut down. People, that because of restrictions in LTC homes, I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to. I am so happy and grateful to be heading back to work. I am not excited about having covid tests every 2 weeks but it will be worth it to be safe and even if it means just seeing one of "my people." I just hope I still know how to play ukulele Thank you to all of my clients and their families and thank you for the people on my waitlist. You have all been so patient during this crazy time.

**Rant Alert**Joan Veronica Almost 5 years ago I recieved a call from a lovely lady looking for services for her sister, Cathy. At that point my main focus was on working with seniors and Cathy was a young pup, not even 50! I will admit that I was nervous that maybe I wouldn't be a good fit for Cathy because besides a few friends with special needs I had growing up, I never had been in charge of "supporting" anyone. I was wrong on so many levels. Not only was I a good fit f...or Cathy but she was the ultimate best fit for me and she has brightened up every single one of my days since the day she walked into my life. She, like all of my people, is more than just a client, I am lucky enough consider her to be a friend. She's my buddy! In the last year, life has taken a turn for my dear friend and at this time we are uncertain about the amount of moments she has left with us here. Honestly, not seeing her, has by far been the hardest part of this quarantine for me but at the same time I take comfort in my belief that when her time comes she will have peace in her heart and that the universe will take care of her. Today, on World Down Syndrome day, I just wanted to make this little video to recognize Cathy and to thank her for being my friend and for just being her. To take the time to appreciate Cathy and all of the other people with Down Syndrome out there that add so much to our lives and make the world a more colorful and happy place even when at times, like these, it seems a little scary. #WDSD20

My friend has been feeling down in the dumps about her husband passing away (rightly so) and feeling "locked up" in a seniors home. Her home is beyond excellent and takes wonderful care of her, she just needs a little break from it all once in awhile. With her children living out of town, I am more than happy to be the solution. We get out for an outing every other week and I try to find ways to keep her happy and having fun. Who would have thought today that fun would be persians and Snapchat filters lol! This was too funny to not share!
