Posted by Ruth's family.... It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Gauthier, 77 (née Dawson), on December 9th 2017. Beloved wife of Gaetan Gauthier. Loving mother of Carol Vaillant, Sharon Gauthier - Lefebvre (Denis Lefebvre) and Michelle Thomson (Ben Thomson). Grandmother to Dan Gauthier (Chelle Brush - Gauthier), Jon Sequin (Kim Sequin), Jessica Vaillant, Nicholas Vaillant, and Cassandra Vaillant. Great grandmother to Austi...n, Damian, Logan, and Benny. Godmother to Kim Dawson. Daughter of Berangere Bisonnette and Berwick Dawson, both predeceased. Dear sister to Norm (predeceased), Richard (Dee), Keith (Doris), Jane, and Peter (Laurie). Along with many nieces and nephew's and countless friends. Ruth was a mother, Grandmother and matriarch to many. She will be remembered by her beautiful angelic voice, her invaluable teachings and her strong belief in family, love, and friendship. Her legacy will be cherished by many. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 16th at St.-Charles Borromee church at 11 am followed by a lunch at Club Alidor in St.-Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly apreciated along with a lit candle to remember her passion for love and light. It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye to Ruth last night... She was an amazing women with a heart of gold, a very proud métis, and an integral part of the French River Métis... This committee offers their most sincere condolences to our Chief Gaetan Gauthier and the whole family.... Strength and prayers sent your way... She will always walk among us.... Her spirit will live on forever.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the French River Métis, we are sorry to have to inform you that we have had to cancel this year’s French River Métis Rendez-Vous. We would like to apologise for the cancellation, especially to those of you who have already made travel plans. Unfortunately, this is due to a series of unfortunate events beyond our control but we intend to make next year’s Rendez-Vous even more spectacular so we hope you can join us then. We are plannin...g to organize a dinner and meeting in the late fall or early in the new year, pending an invited guests schedule. We will keep you posted on this. We would like to thank all the businesses that have to graciously supported us in the past and hope that for next years Rendez-Vous we can continue to count on all of you. We would also like to thanks all the people that have supported us and hope you will join us next year. We appreciate your understanding.
