Gingerbread House Day on December 12th recognizes a family tradition for many around the country. Did you know the history of gingerbread? It is said Gregory of Nicopolis, brought gingerbread to Europe around 992 AD and taught French Christians to bake it. Since gingerbread was often used in religious ceremonies, monks baked gingerbread in the shapes of saints.... Gather the family together, bake gingerbread and start building and decorating your very own gingerbread house :) Fans of the iconic Christmas film Home Alone can now watch a scene from the film perfectly recreated as a gingerbread house. Released on November 16, 1990, Home Alone tells the tale of Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), who is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for France and then has to fight off two thieves trying to rob his house. The film has become an eternal favorite of families during the holiday season, thanks to its countless hilarious scenes and message regarding appreciating family.
