Congrats to one of my favourite students for graduating from puppy homeschool this week. You are such a good boy Gronk I'll miss seeing you guys :) I am looking forward to seeing you again for more lessons when you and your mom get back from your adventures :)

This is the best video and explanation I have sent on the subject of consent and refusal. Did you know, consent and refusal is a key to success in working with reactive or aggressive dogs too? I consider it essential! If you haven't considered this concept as part of your human directed aggression training, it's gonna be a game changer.

I think very highly of Dr Berger and her team and the San Francisco SPCA. Having spoken with her on some heavy hitting topics in canine behaviour and aggression I found her to be refreshing, insightful, as well as direct. I adore her for that. I second her position that the pervasive belief that animals with strong wills need a heavy hand in training is outdated and uneducated. Dominance as a theory has gone the way of the dodo bird, but there are still those that cling to th...is notion as a first course of action in nearly all cases. It's a concern for animal welfare and it is a discredit to this profession. Please note there is a list in the blog Dr. Berger's post links to, for their recommendations when searching for certified professionals you can call if you are dealing with such a dog. If you look, you will notice that I am on that list. No matter how you train, or what you have tried, I am here to support you with your dogs. Wherever you are at, I have been there too. Fun and practical science to inform your training :)

Over the last five years, Justice for Bullies has been kept afloat financially by gear sales and donations from a few generous individuals. Unfortunately, this ...funding model is unsustainable. We were forced to order large quantities of t-shirts, hoodies, hats and toques to keep prices low for everyone but now we are unfortunately left with bins of merchandise just sitting around. Merchandise has a very low markup and with shipping and handling, only a small portion of what you pay ends up in Justice for Bullies’ bank account. At the same time, the costs of maintaining a non-profit organization are substantial, and increasing each year. Justice for Bullies has no paid staff and is the product of dedicated volunteers, but the blood, sweat, and tears of volunteers can’t pay for website hosting, insurance for dog safety instructors, printing, non-profit expenses, and other hard costs.
