Friends of Alexander Place

Participating as a board member, Juliet’s involvement with FOAP is fully focused on the residents and making a difference! Working collectively with our small group, Juliet will engage her network and connect with the community to seek support, resulting in meeting a common goal. The importance of contribution, giving back to her community by volunteering is ingrained within Juliet and extends beyond FOAP. We’re so grateful for her kind spirit, generosity, and years of volunteer work!

Simply said, Amber enjoys helping others, meeting new people, and giving back to her own community. The residents at Alexander Place benefit from her compassion, her creative ideas and asking what can we do more of? Throughout the last two years, Amber commits her time beyond participating on board meetings, to managing the FOAP account as our Treasurer. In addition, researching and establishing critical connections for the recent purchase of the four Apple Ipads, was driven by Amber. FOAP and the residents of Alexander Place are truly fortunate to have Amber volunteer and serve on our board.

When asked, why do you volunteer? Wayne shared this with us! I volunteer for worthwhile causes where I can add value to my community. This photo was taken when my wife and I were volunteering for the Rexall One Walk to fight Cancer. Sitting on the board of F.O.A.P., gives me a sense of satisfaction that I am paying forward my time and energy to help those who cannot help themselves. Our residents at AP need outside advocates who can not only volunteer their time, but also ...raise funds for the folks who cannot afford some of the comforts of life. This is in partnership with the staff of AP who dutifully represent the owners and residents. FOAP also connects with the surrounding neighborhoods, which is why I also sit on the board of Flamborough Connects. FC supports all those in need in Flamborough, including Alexander Place. We truly value Wayne’s commitment to the community!

Continuing to highlight our board members during National Volunteer week, I would like to introduce Monica. Monica began volunteering at Alexander Place almost three years ago for her required volunteer hours in high school. Like Dustin, Monica continued to volunteer because she enjoyed being with the residents and helping with activities. Since then, Monica continues to make an impact through her board membership with Friends of Alexander Place. Enjoying the work, we do, M...onica loves knowing we support the residents and our community. Monica is now finishing up her last year of high school and plans attending university for nursing next September!

How wonderful to read about the celebration, acknowledgement and education of Black History Month at Alexander Place! Thanks to the Alexander Place team for developing this learning experience and to the residents who proved to be excellent students!

Congratulations! These residents took the necessary steps to protect their health by receiving their first COVID vaccine last month. Even with protective masks on, we can see their smiles!

There was certainly a lot of love and beauty shared at Alexander Place this past Valentine's Day. Thank you to the Life Enrichment team and the community for keeping the residents in their hearts!

What a well deserved, wonderful treat for the employees of Alexander Place to experience! Delicious food and the opportunity for cultural education. Thank you to everyone who organized this!

Last week, the residents had a surprising, delightful visitor (s) of a very unique kind! Highly unexpected and a lovely treat to see such a beautiful animal ridden by a member of our Hamilton Police force. Their visit was sincerely appreciated!
