The Friends of Killarney Hospital are very appreciative of the Killarney ELKS and the Manitoba Elks Foundation and their generous donation of $5,000 towards the Tri-Lake Hospital Washroom renovation project! The Elks club has been a constant group of volunteers who have given back to Killarney and surrounding area since 1930. Just have a look around our beautiful community and see the many things the Elks have donated money towards or their time too. The Elks Mission is, A ...Canadian volunteer organization of men and women serving communities. And indeed our Killarney Elks 238 do that! I was asked to attend a meeting earlier in the year to talk about the Tri-lake Hospital Washroom project and the Killarney Foundation. I was honoured to be asked to speak to such a great group of individuals who love their community and have a genuine passion for being a ELK member. They love their club and are proud of what they have accomplished. The club agreed that the Tri-Lake Hospital Washroom project was a worthy project that impacted our whole community and surrounding area and fit the criteria for a grant. Marilyn Lamb, Treasurer and Delores Mason, Exalted Ruler presented Shaun Lockhart, Care Team Manager and Laurie Campbell, Member of Friends of Killarney Hospital and Killarney Foundation Board member with the $5,000 check! Thank you to the Manitoba Elks Foundation for $2500 and our Killarney Elks for matching the $2500.

We are very happy to announce that HyLife has donated $100,000 to the Friends of Killarney Hospital to be used for the Tri-Lake Hospital Washroom renovation project! The Friends of Killarney Hospital and the Killarney Foundation are extremely thankful for this generous donation that HyLife has just given us. It’s truly amazing that in these times a company would step up to assist in such a big way. We were overwhelmed when HyLife reached out to us about this donation. We w...ould like to personally thank Marv Magwood and Cori Vanrobaeys for their support in getting this donation allocated to this project. You are both amazing champions of Killarney and for that we are very appreciative. The scope of the project is as follows: The Killarney Tri-Lake Hospital was opened on April 17th, 1976. The hospital has an Acute Care with 27 beds, Long Term Care with 60 beds and a Medical Clinic. The Hospital supports Killarney and surrounding areas. The hospital has aging infrastructure. The washrooms are very small and are not wheelchair or walker assessable. The scope of this project is to renovate 16 washrooms. We have 5 single rooms and 11 double rooms. Prairie Mountain Health Region is managing the RFP process and providing Project Management. The Friends of Killarney Hospital and the Killarney Foundation have a great working relationship with the Prairie Mountain Health region and the amazing team at the Tri-Lake Hospital and are very proud of the work we do together. To date we are very pleased to say that we have installed 16 new windows and blinds and a proof of concept on one washroom in Acute as part of this renovation project Best Regards, Laurie Campbell Board Member of the Killarney Foundation Member of Friends of Killarney Hospital

We hope this finds you well. It’s been a crazy few months for us all. The community has done an exceptional job at following the guidelines and keeping our community safe and healthy. We’ve been working with the Prairie Mountain Health Region and the Killarney Foundation to ensure this project keeps moving forward. The region is working on the RFP(Reference for Proposal) that they will be releasing in the next few weeks. Once the RFP is released the Region will make their d...ecision on the successful candidate. We are very excited to get this project started. In regards to fundraising we are still working on that but as you can imagine in these times its very hard to ask for money. The Killarney Foundation confirmed at their April meeting their continued support of their donation towards this project. We are very thankful for the Killarney Foundation and what they do for our community. Just before the lockdown we presented to a community group who were supportive of the project and they are considering donating. We have filled out some applications for funding and are hopeful we will hear back from the businesses. We also have received money from other community members and one in memory of a loved one donations. We are thankful to all who have donated. Special thanks to those families who made #frontstepsproject donations to our group & to Blayre Dickson for bringing this project to our community. We will keep you posted on our progress. Please spread the word about Friends of Killarney Foundation and the Killarney Hospital renovations project. Best Regards, Laurie Campbell
