The Friends of St John's Arichat Society will be holding its ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 7 pm at the St John's Centre for the Arts in Arichat. All members of the Friends of St John's Arichat Society are encouraged to attend. Not a member yet? Come to the meeting and we'll sign you up. Membership dues are $10/year. See you there!

The bell at St. John’s Centre for the Arts in Arichat will ring Friday night, beginning at 6:39pm. The bell will ring each minute for the 22 victims, plus an ex...tra time during one of the minutes for the unborn child, leading to the online Vigil at 7pm. https://www.facebook.com/events/161680291833020/ All churches with bells are invited to do the same. It turns out that not all news is bad news these days. Yes, we, like everyone else, have had to shut down events and meetings for the while. But . . . Our restroom is finally complete!!!!!! Thank you so much to the Nova Scotia Ministry of Communities, Culture and Heritage for awarding us a grant under its Access-Ability Program. Without the grant, this project would have remained simply a dream. Huge thanks to Gerry Samson and Eddie Rideout for donating their plumbing and... electrical expertise to the project, and to Ralph Mauger, who clocked in 230 volunteer hours working through the frigid winter. And a big shout out to Sandy Gillis and his crew who also worked through awful weather to get this done. Gratitude to Mitch David too, for adding some important finishing touches. As soon as we can resume scheduling events, we will.

Many, many thanks to everyone who attended our Country Christmas concerts. They were wonderful! Special thanks to Becky Bourinot who organized both events and who also performed. And special thanks also to all the musicians who donated their time and tunes: Adam Cooke, Cathy Anne Cooke, Delores Boudreau, Tracey Wallace, Drake Boudreau, James Boudreau, Richard Boudreau, Kenny Petipas, Dylan Sampson, Yvette Boudreau, and Robert Bouchard. Thanks to Dennis "Nick " Boudre...au for ensuring that things sounded just right, and to Adam Cooke and Chuck Boudreau for being such great MCs. And thanks to members of the Board of the Friends of St John’s Arichat who assisted in making both concerts such a fine success. And thanks so much, Donald MacLellan, for the fabulous photos! We are reminded at this time of the year of just how much we owe to our local community for its support over the past couple years. And we are truly grateful.
